I saw that interview not too long ago. I could never understand the explanation for oil as some kind of dinosaur piss or whatever other nonsense. I have friends in Nigeria where the gasoline for motor vehicles is pumped for something like 30 cents a gallon. Of course, the rest of life there is terrible compared to the West, so the cheap gas isn't going to cause Americans to defect to Nigeria. The price-fixing obviously is meant only for certain groups of customers. Distribution houses in the global supply chain behave similarly with contracts, penalties, etc. The folks running these operations don't care about truth. Business and truth don't mix b/c we always need "reasons" to justify prices. Prices control the masses. Some things work wonders for control if provided for free. Some things work better if it squeezes more juice from the masses. The News then rolls out panels of experts 'splaining everything afterwards. Good show, Fintan!

I think the Burt Rutan your pointing to is not an oil ‘xec, but aerospace engineer/entrepreneur behind Scaled Composites. He grew up not far from me in Portlandia and went to work at NASA. He also as proved my college work {post Challenger} of a municipal catamaran space launcher concept that he sold to his royal majestic Branson-ness. . . So, I come across him a lot.

You had me right up to the point you started gushing how beautiful, and glorious oil, and its derivatives are. No matter where it comes from or if we have oil forever we still need to burn it in a way that doesnt affect our health or the environment. Petroleum workers have increased risks of cancers for instance, let alone our daily exposure to it. How you failed to square all that in your rush to prove your point is astounding to me as up to then the information you was sharing was good.

It's not Fintan's job to cover all bases here. And it sounds to me you were looking for an excuse to "catch him out". And I agree with you regarding the problems with hydrocarbons. But you know what its a fallen world, a Godless one. Look to God for perfection. And use earthly reason , no one is perfect.

@@markbrowne181 Ive followed Fintan for over a decade, and theres is no bigger supporter. I do challenge him, and will continue to do so. Its not about catching him out, but keeping him honest. Hes one of the few i listen to, and take onboard what he says so when he comes out with things like that i question it. I think he would agree its a good thing to do. As for God i act like he exists....good enough?

There is a huge misconception when it comes to organic chemistry. Organic chemistry is simply carbon chemistry. A carbon compound is thus referred to as "organic" whether or not it was produced by or had anything to do with the chemical processes of living organisms. This convention is an historical hangover from beliefs that since carbon compounds are fundamental to the biological functions of all living organisms, the compounds themselves must possess a kind of vital essence. However, "organic" chemical reactions occur readily in inanimate material.

You are easily convinced. But the rest of us are fools.
