UPDATE: The free plan for Microsoft's Clipchamp now supports exporting videos with a resolution of 1080p. Check out this video for my favorite free video editing software for PC: kzitem.info/news/bejne/ynhutn9oiYGkpno I personally use DaVinci Resolve to edit my videos, which is also free. You can find out how to get started with DaVinci Resolve here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/tp2rsJ2wcnOKgG0 (the learning curve is much steeper than this, but you have much more control).

The text to speech is interesting. How many people have a really good voice? It's wild, to me, that this tech is just out there, for free. Maybe I could use this to make a narration and then move that to Shotcut? Can't imagine using 480. I suppose you could make it seem like you had a room full of people commenting on your product, different voices. "What do you think Trevor?" Good English name.

Great video Kevin, made a few youtube videos - simple to use and fairly easy to follow. One thing I have noticed, the last video i created doesn't have the "thumbnail" I have on the others on the home screen where you choose what you want to edit - just the name of the file in and empty - rest all have a preview. Have I inadvertently toggled a setting off? If anyone has any ideas Id appreciate a heads up.

@KevinStratvert
2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, 480p is a non-starter. I'm expecting Microsoft to change that soon unless they want massive negative press for an app included with Windows. MS acquired Clipchamp in September 2021, so I'm guessing they're still working out the plan details. I would expect the plans to be better. With better plans in place, I can recommend this video editor since it's so easy to use.

At least with how advanced our technology now, 720P should be the minimum. I remember using Windows Movie Maker before. It was fun until it became too laggy. Hopefully it'll become part of Microsoft 365 so it won't be that pricy. It's nice app though for content creators. P.S. I realized we can now install android apps in Windows 11. These might be useless if we can get Canva and other android editing apps to work smoothly with Windows 11. 🤔

You tell me to go to my video editor but all it does is take me to my photos app. page where there is NO video editor built in. At least I don't see it. On the upper left all it has is "Photos, all photos, Personal stuff, below that is memories, and below that it's favorites and folders". On the right all it has is "import, a settings wheel" and some more icons that don't show a video editor anywhere. Very frustrated and confused. A lot easier in Windows 10. Sadly the price tag for premium function is off limits for many folks on a budget. At least on a Mac, iMovie provides so much more as a free video editor. Sad Microsoft couldn’t do the same with Clipchamp. On the other hand, alternative video editors such as Cyberlink Powerdirector is a far less cost per year (subscription) providing free stock videos, photos, and music. Plus, Cyberlink Powerdirector is a rich video editor packed with many features that Clipchamp can’t even compared to. Cyberlink Powerdirector is available for both Windows and Mac. Filmora is another awesome video editor, but way too expensive. Filmora subscription is based on separate tiers. Each of Filmora add on (subscriptions) is ridiculously way over priced, stock photos, stock videos, and music, all separate subscription. Filmora stock videos, photos, and music subscription is confusing and do believe it is done that when for one reason, $$$$. Very limited photos provided by Filmora access on the low tier are a few to be desired. All of their add on requires a separate subscription that results $$$$ per mouth or yearly subscriptions. And for those who are KZitem Content Creators but haven’t reach the goal of getting paid, don’t count on Clipchamp or Filmora for your KZitem channel, either of these two video editing softwares should pay for its self if you’re getting paid. Otherwise, your money is going down the drain. KZitem Content Creators should keep expenses down to the limit until the checks start rolling in. Otherwise, money is thrown out the door. All you doing is making these companies rich while busting your butt to get the first check. If Clipchamp and Filmora made a simple economic plan for anyone to afford to use then awesome value for both products. Microsoft and Filmora barely have any overhead that can justify the high cost of their subscriptions. A few FREE Linux video editors are available for both Windows & Mac. Limitation with Linux editors there are no free stock videos, photos, or music. If using Linux video editors a pay service is required from many online stock videos, photos and music subscriptions. But, Linux video editors are packed with premium tools, transitions, color editing, layers, music editing, 4k & 8K editing, etc… Plus, there is DaVinci Resolve, another free video editor for both Windows & Mac. Although the free version of DaVinci Resolve does have some limiting functionality compared to the paid version, it’s still far exceeds Clipchamp. DaVinci Resolved is a professional video editor. Many Mac users have switched from Final Cut Pro to DaVinci Resolved. And many users have switched from Adobe Premier To DaVinci. DeVinici free version excels as powerful full function video editor. Note: There is a learning curve using DeVinci Resolved. Yeah, Clipchamp may have some cool stuff but there is premium priced tag to use them. And let’s be honest, why would folks feel comfortable enough having limited access when editing videos? It’s Microsoft way of getting the bait and cashing in. If Microsoft throughout the premium pricing and kept all editing function for free, this would had been an awesome in the middle video editor. So, anyone wanting a full functionality video editor without stealing your wallet, I would highly recommend Cyberlink Powerdirector or suite only because your low yearly subscription comes with free stock photos, videos, and music. Plus, Cyberlink Powerdirector is a all around powerful video editor for both Windows & Mac users.😎
