When the minute hand moves 1 minute, the hour hand also moves. However, the hour hand moves a fraction of a degree because it moves at a slower rate than the minute hand. In one hour (or 60 minutes), the hour hand completes one full rotation, which is 360 degrees. So, in one minute, the hour hand moves 360 60 = 6 60 360 =6 degrees. Therefore, when the minute hand moves 1 minute, the hour hand moves 6 degrees.
