Head wrightson was never as clean as this! I remember sitting at the far end of that place on a night shift (maintenance fitter I was) smoking a rolly thinking "hell must be like this"

did anyone else notice the lizard that keeps poking his head out of the floor grate every time the hammer drops?

The second forging machine looks like it has an unpowered down stroke; gravity free fall, is this correct? I just noticed that the weighted die appears to be suspended underneath the ram / shaft by two very thick rubber belts, is this also correct?

It's a drop-hammer, the tup drops under gravity and is lifted by the belts. Other designs are "double-acting" like the Huta-Zygmunt MPM air hammers that power down.

If the hammer drops with no multiple in it? Do the dies touch?

Yes, they are a "kiss-face" design. Usually EN2B material.

Does anyone know? A company that makes engines in this way individually?
@RD-ij2sz
3 жыл бұрын
No . Engines are not like this . Some 3 engine components are made like this . Crack shaft , connecting rod , cam shaft . This process is followed by machining , heat treatment , grinding etc to make these 3 parts . Cylinder block and heads are made by casting process followed by machining .
@user-cq2it4hc6e

@@RD-ij2sz But I think if the engine block and head were made this way it would be better in terms of durability. Thanks for the clarification

@@user-cq2it4hc6e Cylinder and Blocks and Heads have complex profiles and geometry and cavities which can not be achieved by forging . These two parts have to cast from different grades of cast iron or aluminum alloy .
