Hey CNET, you can easily add links to applications in the "About" tab, also sometimes called the "Description down below" :). But I suppose that way you won't make ad revenue off the website.

When I first saw pictures of the new Cherokee, I thought it was a joke. Now, I think the design is genius. Separating the headlights from the DRLs and turn signals is going to give designers the freedom to really express themselves in the future. Now, if we can just get the NHTSA to allow designers to eliminate the side mirrors...

Tough call on this one. If you want an off-road beast, you have to go Wrangler, but if you want a comfy cruiser that has okay off-road abilities, there are Japanese and European choices that are better. This Cherokee seems to be in between. It's nice that they offer AWD or 4WD, so the consumer can choose which compromise they lean towards, though.

Embarassing to say the last, needs a straight 6 4.0 or an engine reminscent of that anyway. I like how Subaru Forester wasn't mentioned here, since its using a 2.5 and is lighter or at least the 2009 model was?

Before you go to alldata to see your TSBs, know that it is $27 to see a specific TSB. My '88 has about 40 total and 10 or so are from the last 3 years. Anyone know of a free way to see the TSBs?
@hyperlogos

wiibaron If your car has a healthy community you can often track them down on a forum somewhere. Sometimes the dealer will print out TSBs for you. If you know someone with a shop and an Alldata subscription, they can print them for free.

what is the difference between 4wd and awd? Why is 4wd better?
@Cepera540
10 жыл бұрын
One word, Google. Better yet search youtube.
@1820AL
10 жыл бұрын
4WD is basically saying that the engine can drive either the front or rear wheels at any given time, separately, or all at the same time, depending on the driver's input by selecting which drive option. A lot of trucks and off-road capable vehicles have this. AWD is basically when the engine drives all four wheels at ALL times permanently, unlike the driver choosing which wheels to drive in a 4WD vehicle. Some car companies, notably Audi (Quattro), have this as their main option and this provides better grip on the road, but AWD is better for road/track driving only, not really ideal for off-roading.

@KeiDoesManyThings
10 жыл бұрын
In the same way that the new Buicks are AMERICAN brand but are actually European cars from the German company Opel. Toyota and Honda may be foreign cars, but the cars were designed and made for American roads. Therefore, it makes them more or less American.

Can't stand the Fiat-Jeep Cherokee KL...the interior is cool with all the technology and stuff, but the exterior and drivetrain are incomparable to the Cherokee XJ. My 1999 with the bulletproof 4.0L from AMC will last longer than these new low quality Fiat-Jeeps, especially the way I take care of my XJ!!
@wiibaron
10 жыл бұрын
And you are getting how many MPGs? 15 or so compared to 25 combined means every 15 gallon fill-up gets you 150 more miles in a 2014. Drive 1000 miles a month and you'll save nearly $5300 before the 5 year warranty is up. Use that to buy a new engine...
@hoagieman26
10 жыл бұрын
Actually on my last vacation, my XJ got around 21-22 mpg from Detroit to Chicago and back! But yes, true, with the money saved in the new one id definitely use that toward a new motor, because these new ones wont last! Then again, you aren't saving very much if you have a car payment on top of the gas!
@wiibaron
10 жыл бұрын
Hunter Hoag I've done the 94 to Chicago many times myself. About 240 miles and at 32HWY in the new one you would have saved $30 in gas round trip. And a few dental fillings wouldn't be loose either...GO WINGS!

Hold on, the department of transportation had NASA engineers check the Toyotas over for 10 months and found zero problems, funny how that didn't make into the news. This guy should have done his homework before saying crap like that. As off-road worthy as Jeep is trying to make the market perception of Cherokee be, the embarrassing lack of wheel articulation & the fragile nature of uni-body cars off-road aren't fooling any real off-road enthusiasts. But then again, they on'y need to sell it to the people who don't any better, which is 90% of the population anyways.
