The EMCC seasons were the best. Coach Buddy is great; a real character - best part of the show! It's funny how many people seem to hate him, but that's the way football coaches are a lot of the time. They're basically like drills sergeants. They have to be. There is a lot of raw testosterone on that field, and a lot of these players come from pretty rough upbringings. As such, the coach HAS to be the Alpha dog if he wants to be able to control that many aggressive young men. All these people saying things like "he's damaging to teenagers..." No, he's not. He's trying to toughen them up, make them live up to the potential he sees in them, all while also holding them accountable when they're being lazy and/or acting like morons. Sure, Buddy is a little rough around the edges, and he wears his emotions on his sleeve, and no, he doesn't always set a perfect example (fighting with refs and such) but at heart he's a good man who truly cares about his players. Yes, he wants to continue his winning tradition partially for his own sake and for the sake of the school, BUT he also wants his players to be champions, too, so that they can go on to bigger and better things, and fulfill their dreams of playing Div 1 and perhaps even go pro!

Until you coach at the JUCO level, you should probably refrain from judging. I'm not being condescending, I've been in that environment. These student-athletes, and I say that loosely, are incredibly hard to coach, can be very disrespectful and have zero understanding of decency. Now, I'm talking in generalities, that's not all of the kids, but damn sure majority. These are young men who were pushed through the system, coming from households that either promote bad behavior or absent which causes the bad behavior. Not condoning how Buddy acted, just stating it's hard to keep your composure when this is the environment you're in day-in, day-out.
