Coach Thompson was a great man. They don’t come any better than him. He was more than basketball. We have lost a true icon and warrior 🇺🇸

Not only that, he demanded his players behave. He also paid a former nun as an academic advisor. Nearly every player that played all four years for him at Georgetown graduated with a degree. Not many college coaches can say that.

Like 97%. He cared about his players as people and not just athletes.

A man who prided himself in diversity of his roster, and giving players an opportunity regardless of race.

A real boots on the ground civil rights solider. Who impact supersede any recent congressional black caucus employee. Peace be still Big John (Thompson). This one hurts.

One of his players killed 2 of my friends. I hated the Georgetown basketball teams, because they had a number of thugs, even though they were supposedly students at an elite school. I don't blame John Thompson though. It's more a reflection of the crooked NCAA system.
