Sometime it may be worth doing a demo using Winmor in RMS. I doubt there are many systems that are not Packet or Pactor capable, but it would present another option that folks could set up quickly and very inexpensively. Thanks for the continued great quality videos.

+Gene B Gene I have a video (or two) showing how to send/receive HF radio email using the USB Signalink sound card unit with Winmor. Here is one of them. kzitem.info/news/bejne/0WOYq3WEe3NjYIY

+Commsprepper Do you have one using the Signalink on VHF/UHF with Winmor, etc? I'm having a hard time getting this configured, as Winmor seems to want HF. I'm sure it is all operator error!
@Commsprepper

+MrConradF no but I don't know why it would not work. It's just audio tones - seems it would work in FM just as SSB. If I had a second unit I would test that.

Great video, thanks for posting it. Can you address the Baofeng cables? I've been reading up on it and there are more suggestions than I have time left in life to explore :-) How did you build/where did you purchase the necessary cables to use the Baofeng in your setup? Thanks again.

This seems the way to go for Packet Winlink. I am having problems with the Kantronics KPC3+, but almost impossible to get anyone to help with the setting and stuff to make it work properly, even the Factory is of little to no help. Once you buy it that is they could care less if you get them working Signalink USB you need to download some other program as well as Winlink to make it work. There should be a just plug and Play to make Winlink simple to work.

Its a damn shame that Coastal Chipworks is not making them anymore. Now you have to go to MFJ and pay twice the amount for the same product.

on the above website address, the guru says the following ¨working on a mechanism by which TNC-Pi will continue to be available. A clone of the original TNC-X is currently available from MFJ Enterprises. I hope that the TNC-Pi will be available fairly early in the coming year. I do not believe that kits will be available for a couple of reasons.¨ ================= On the Mfj website it says: We are not accepting backorders at this time due to unpredictable lead-times. ======== This is disappointing, so where do I get the modem kit?

Hi there, I was wondering if you would make a video on how to get into packet radio and HF digital modes. I have been out of it for so long (Circa 1988) and there are so many new forms of digital communications now I don't know where to start. I am buying a Kantronics Kam from a guy down in California for $50.00 and I need a refresher on Digital Comms. Thanks Bro DE: N6PGG /7 73's Dave

So the tail extra tone is a trademark of tncx or pi. I thought i have an issue with mine. Also baofeng sql is way to high even on #1. So i always open my sql to catch all the packets.

It has to do with the T/R transition of the cheaper radios. My Yaesus don't do it.

That looks like a great (affordable) kit! Thanks for the demo! Does anybody make an android app that would have similar functionality? Mainly allowing image transmission over radio? It seems like it must be out there but I can't find it (I'm probably using the wrong terminology). TIA!

@Commsprepper

+Brian Streufert Not sure what you mean by protocol? The modem runs 1200 baud packet which is selected in the RMS Express application. Hope this answers the question. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Respectfully - CommsPrepper

i nowhere found a nice diagram that shows me the speed of rms packet. sending a 50kb file, whats your bytes/min throughput? thanks rainer, oe3gwu
@Commsprepper
8 жыл бұрын
+Rainer Weninger The modem runs at 1200bps, half duplex.
@Jerrec
8 жыл бұрын
+Commsprepper I know. But that doesnt tell much about the real throughput. You got protocol overhead. Using PACTOR3 you get up to 7000 bytes/min. WINMOR is in theory almost as fast but you only get 4000 bytes/minute throughput. Tested with a 50kb File. But I dont know about Packet.

+SilentSniper Vt If you want to do HF email you will need one of the three (from okay to best) 1) Signalink USB sound card mode - Winmore, 2) Kantronics Pactor I modem (old school), or SCS Pactor III or IV modem - the best.

Signalink is probably your best budget item - just remember to turn your radio's power down more than 50% when you use it.
