There isn’t an artist at any stage of their career who isn’t or wasn’t in this very position at some point. All creatives experience the lack of support from others, the doubt in faith in themselves, the frustration of just being plain ol’ broke, and the immediate deep breath their soul takes when things start to pay off; “Big Dummy” captures the concept of it having been worth every struggle. Set in the 50s, the story follows a day in the life of a struggling artist -- the humiliation of being faced with peers who have become successful in their chosen career paths looking down on her, a car breaking down on the way to a gig, being paid close to nothing for performing and saving all of the money just for studio time. Plus, a tearjerker surprise: Cocoa’s late mother makes an appearance at the very end. Cocoa says, “When I was writing the treatment, it was important that the visual captured what it really feels like to chase a dream that doesn’t pay right away. I wanted to be just as transparent in the visual as I was when I was writing the song."

Lyrics:
(Written By Tia “Cocoa Sarai” Myrie)
I bet if I spent all my money on
Gucci, designer well then I could try
To fit in with all of the fraudulent
they front all the time
But truthfully I
I don't give a
I don't give a
I don't give a
I don't give a
I don't give a
I don't give a
I don't give a
I don't really give a
B sec
And oh Honey
I wish That I knew how to quit I'm a glutton for pain
Out here chasing a dream that don't pay right away
Hook
And oh honey
I would do this this for no money
10 years you ain't pop yet you big dummy
Talent I got they can't take from me
And I couldn't stop if I tried
Verse 2
You know I'm black like February
Plus 11 months that's kind of scary
If I light a ***** Tina Mixed with Mary
Plus a Lil Kim Brooklyn I'm heavy
Both of them
I want both of them
Fame and the glory
Couple kids and a crib hella big
And my face on every poster
I remember crying looking at The Garden thinking that I'll never get there
That's just how it goes everybody knows sometimes life ain't fair
Six months later
God showed out
Sang the anthem to a sold out crowd
Mama so it happen she's gone now
Kind of faith that removes all doubt
B sec
And oh
I wish That I knew how to quit I'm a glutton for pain
Out here chasing a dream that don't pay right away
Hook
But oh honey
I would do this this for no money
10 years you ain't pop yet you’s a big dummy
Talent I got they can't take from me
And I couldn't stop if I tried
6x
Tried
Tried
Tried Oooh
