Fry the rice ingredients in a rice cooker :
2 tbsp cooking oil
300 g rice ( basmati or jasmine), rinse twice, drain
200ml Santan= coconut milk
250 ml water ( need to be mixed with coconut milk before pouring into the rice pot )
½ tsp halba = fenugreek seeds( optional)
1½ tsp salt
1 Serai = lemongrass
3 pandan leaves = screwpine leaves
1 big onion( or 3 shallots)
5 slices ginger ( 20 g)
1 Kayu manis=cinnamon stick
1 bunga lawang=star anise
Method
1. Nasi: Heat up 2 tbsp of oil,fry ingredients of Nasi and seasoning in a rice cooker pot and cook in the rice cooker until done. Do not open the lid once it’s cooked. Leave it for 20 minutes. Fluff up the rice.
