Clan of Xymox was one too. Camper van Beethoven i think. Sixteen days is a mortal coil colab & for the longest time i thought it was a Cocteau twins track. Just started watching your vid so i should probably wait and respond but i got a smile on my face because this band (along with siouxsie) are on my top five of all time. CT is other worldly and OMG that voice. Dead can dance & CT put 4ad on the map. To my understanding this mortal coil is a collaboration of artists rather than a band. Ok shoulda waited lol (edited down this long response lol). I think Christ and Cosy is on Mute - another beyond iconic and amazing record label w/ soooooo many amazing artists (diamanda galas being one of many). There is also the Pink Opaque which has a remixed version of wax and wane and some other trax that were not included in their albums. A must for sure. And head over heels which is such dark atmospheric masterpiece. I would have loved getting that box set early on when it wasn't nearly as $ or rare but they did come out with a two cd compilation Lullabies for Violaine yrs back that has all the eps but made Robin Guthrie pissed because apparently it was not an authorized release. He was urging fans not to buy it. However, for those like me who can't afford to get the box set, this compilation is best to none. Sorry about your bout of depression. Wondering if perhaps if you didn't have these albums to listen to, it may have been much more difficult. Sure maybe they made you more sad but in a way they also helped you exercise the dark sadness out of your system. Like you need to sit with that sadness/channel it and music helps even though maybe at the time it felt like it was making it worse. I personally could not imagine not having music to fit the mood & listen to while going through a rough time. I live in SF and this coming Friday there will be a yearly party called Cocteaufest where all night long it will be all CT and side projects at this place The Cat Club. Def a party you would wanna check out if you lived here (or just plan for it next year 😉).

Thank you for the awesome comment. Ah yes, Clan of Xymox. I knew I was forgetting someone. I plan on playing Medusa in my DJ night tomorrow. I did a video a few days about about my DJ setlist. I mention that in there. Indeed, so many artists on Mute that I love. Agree on Pink Opaque, I forgot to the mention that one also! I just uploaded a video on Brian Eno where I talk about possibly my goal with doing these videos. I originally just wanted to do videos on my favorite music acts from when I was 7 to 25 years old to set a foundation. I might just turn it into a top 100 most inspirational artists of my youth or something and rename the videos with #'s to match. Then I can start doing videos on stuff I have been into the last 15-20 years. And start doing interviews with friends that do their own music. For now, I am keeping this channel away from promoting it to my friends and acquaintance until Jan 1st when I hope to have all the base videos done first. Its kind of like my diary of my music path. Then I will tell them I have a channel lol. So thanks for organically finding my channel. Appreciate you.

S.F. ? Nice. I'm originally from Los Angeles. Amoeba records and Haight street stores was a great place to shop for music. We used to go out there every fall from like 1994-2003

@@ElectricCafe-45 I'm enjoying your videos. I hope you gain a bigger following. Unfortunately, i think content creators who cover more fringe content or in this case, music that is not of a wider audience are harder to get a big following but i take it that your goal is more about sharing your thoughts/passion on artists you cover and gaining a following is 2ndary. There are alot of folks out there who are just as passionate about the music you cover and those you will definitely gain a following from. Amoeba is still a great record store, but it seems that you can't find rare gems the way i used to anyway when i first moved to SF in 2000. They used to have a section for industrial, goth, experimental and the stuff i would find in those sections was amazing. The sf location anyways got rid of those sections & i think they were incorporated in with the basic rock section. I haven't really purchase physical copies of any music in decades but once in a while i'll go and see if i can score clearance items (in the cd section lol). They still have the house/electronic section so i hit those two when i'm there. I don't buy vinyl, still have most of my cds from when i started collecting music in my teens. After coming out (i was 20) i embraced dance music but it was more about underground techno and house but i always gravied to that music in a sense because i was still more into industrial and ebm than goth so naturally i would eventually gravitate to house/techno since pop music was what i was into pre-teens (other 3 on my top five other than sioux and CT is Skinny puppy, coil and meat beat manifesto). My other fav genre is of course post punk which is why i love some of the bands you've covered so far. You must really love how vinyl focused amoeba has gotten. Will have to check out your brian eno vid. Oh! And of course Orbital (speaking of techno).
