Ok it seems like there's a need for some clarification again regarding this video. The call was "Injury accident, car vs. motorcycle with a fight following." We had 2 or 3 units responding to this situation. So, I hope that's serious enough for you bleeding heart - "you're driving too fast" - Monday morning quarterbacks. There's no denying that code 3 driving is a rush and one of the fun parts of the job. However, we don't just do it for some random reason or to go get doughnuts.

I don't understand all these people. Code 3 response is for a reason, and that is to get there fast, not take your time. Lights & sirens mean get outta the way, not stare and listen. I don't understand these people who say you're driving too fast. If they want you to drive the limit, then what's the point of the lights and sirens.. Honestly people, until you're in a situation where you want the police there quick, I don't think you'll understand how Code 3 responses work.

Man I love the sound of the P71 wide open. That's why I own a 2004 myself (Best year and they are amazing cars. I love mine). I don't understand why all these people are bitching about his driving. He's a first responder heading to an accident call with injuries. Was he supposed to drive like an old blue hair? If somebody is breaking into your house, do you want the cops to drive 35 MPH to get to you or do you want them there as fast as possible before the bad guy kills you. Freakin morons.

@marshall0792 Let me help you understand. The last thing I want is to fly by someone on the left side just as they decide to make a left turn. I need to know they know I'm there and that I'm passing them. That's why we wait until they "fly off the road into the ditch" to pass - after all - pulling over to the right is what the law requires. Hope that helps.

@LCPDofficerGarcia Actually, it is a law: 49-625. Operation of vehicles on approach of authorized emergency or police vehicles. (1) Upon the immediate approach of an authorized emergency or police vehicle making use of an audible or visible signal, meeting the requirements of section 49-623, Idaho Code, the driver of every other vehicle shall yield the right-of-way and immediately drive to a position parallel to, and as close as possible to, the nearest edge or curb of the highway... I assume your in California. What ever happened to the Hi-Lo Sirens? On my code 3 calls, I would use that when I went against traffic on a red light - which it usually got everyone's attention. I retired after 20 years of service and relocated to N. Ca. I might be back into law enforcement, but I miss the hi/lo. There's now a strange siren that sounds like a space ship - which I hate. Also wish the air horn would not interrupt the siren when used.

Why the rush? EMS and others already on scene. Rather than close in and tailgate and use worthless electronic air horn on drivers who do not hear the siren, why not just pass in the center median lane where you were anyway? But get out of it ASAP to avoid debris. Most people are good drivers. But siren is difficult to hear in newer sound-proofed vehicles with air conditioning and good stereos.

First out of curioustiy, why does it even matter what is on the radio? Secondly, if an does what they're suppose to as far as their driving is concerned during a code response and civilians respond like they're suppose to (eg. move over out of the way), then noone's safety will and/or should be in danger. Seems to be the times when others make erratic moves or simply aren't paying attention that an accident happens.

To get to people who were injured and help them while ems is on the way. That and to block traffic so more accidents don't happen. Also, to bring order to a chaotic situation and show a presence of authority during a time that one needs to be shown. What kind of question are you even attempting to ask? Why don't you ask the people who weren't yielding to him why they're breaking the law before you bust the guy's balls who's enforcing it?

@640101vh the frame that the crown vic rides on dates back to 1979, it's V8 dates back to 1991, and the body design dates back to 1998...some upgrades here and there through the years, but not a whole lot...what the crown vic needs is a modern design, a modern frame, a modern V8 (preferably the new 5.0 V8), a 6 speed automatic transmission, and a lower rear axle ratio..the Charger can definitely outperform the Crown Vic, but it won't outlast it..and of course the CV is gettin' replaced in Aug.

@michaelx7677 Well the CVPI is a gas guzzler, the 2011 is rated at 14 mpg city(worse then some full size SUVS) second its way outdated, especially compared to offerings from Chrysler and GM, third it only has 250 hp which is a pathetic for a vehicle of its size with a gas guzzling V8. Last its slow, noisy, unrefined, overpriced, underpowered, has sloppy handling & poor brakes. Personally I like the sound and durability of these vehicles but I don't blame the police for moving on to better cars.

@Mrbigpappa37 Police are allowed to use just lights to run code...if there's someone rummaging through your crap in your house would you want the sound of a siren giving away the arrival of the police? Lights with no siren is just as effective should you not drive with your head up your rectum.

I have discovered after many years, just leave it on wail or yelp. Hi-lo and hetro don't do anything, nor does the air horn. With the touchmaster you just tap the horn button on steering wheel, (That toggles between wail and yelp) If you have to bail you don't need to leave the siren running, when you put the car park the siren shuts off. You have to take your eyes off the raod to use the horn function, (No a good thing to do while running code 3!) I always listen to the country station!

Not anything too harsh, but at least a letter sent to their home telling them that next time they fail to yield, they get a $50 fine or something. Maybe post their face in the paper and embarrass them. Reviewing the video will give their tag numbers. It can be placed on their driving record will no ill effects unless they show a pattern of that behavior. Just my humble opinion.

It was called in as a mcyl vs. car with a fight following. Of course, not quite that exciting once we arrived...

I don't understand how someone could get into a vehicle when they're 10-57.....great vid by the way, I love seeing these cause there's plenty of vids of fire crews and medics running hot but not police..

@normanmj indeed but Crown Vics have good visiblility, plenty of room, large trunks, and many officers like them. For a 4000 pound beast it goes pretty good. They can keep up with most cars.

@deekamikaze I think it is, my department has the same siren tone. We use the Federal Touchmaster, god does that thing sound gorgeous when it activated. It a beefy siren, there just something to it.
