Jesus man... you are hands down the most inspirational woodworker I've ever seen. You don't know me and most likely never will. However, you saved my life... As a total disabled vet after my last combat deployment in Afghanistan, I found myself depressed, mad, sad, and hopeless. I had just lost my entire career by almost dying in a country that didn't want us there, following orders that didn't help anyone, all to defend freedoms for Americans who many don't honor, respect, nor even care about. The same freedoms that so many have died protecting. So I was medically evacuated back to America and was told by the army that I was no longer fit to serve and after a year of rehab and medical procedures, I was sent home to hang up my boots. I felt so lost. I had extreme PTSD, and injuries that completely altered my life. Brother, when I tell you I was on the edge.... I was already 1 foot off the edge and starting to lean forward. One night after waking from a nightmare, I turned on KZitem and started scrolling. That's when I came across one of your videos. Intrigued, I clicked on it. I was spellbound. Completely mesmerized. INSPIRED. Like a fire being lit in my heart, I wanted to learn. I studied for 6 months reading books and watching videos. 6 months before I bought my first tool or piece of wood. My wife saw a passion in me that she thought died in Afghanistan. Like a madman, I devoured every bit of woodworking knowledge I could get my hands on. That was a few years ago. I'm still alive because of you and that video (and of coursemy wife and son), I have a hobby because of you, I have something to keep my mind busy during bad PTSD spells because of you. I am FAR from a great woodworker, hell I wouldn't even say I'm a good one, but I am constantly learning all I can to get better. I'm very slowly acquiring tools as I come across deals or find them at a goodwill or Craigslist. (The pension for a disabled vet is just enough to pay bills and keep my family fed. So I save what dollars I can to get tools as I save enough) I don't even know if you'll read this, but if you do, I just wanted to say THANK YOU for all that you have done for me. It's a very tough time right now because my wife is deployed to the middle east and with everything going on my PTSD is worse than ever. I'm staying positive because I know I'll get through this storm and I have a hobby that allows me to turn my brain off and allows me to hyper focus on different tasks that I enjoy. Thank you so much. I pray that you have the most success and for good health for you and your family!

Murdock, I saw your comment. Read the whole thing. THANK YOU! Thank you for serving. And tell your wife the same when she gets home. Hug your child. And do us all a favor. Please, do not ever forget that you are worth as much as any other person on the planet. God loves you. And I'll be praying for you, along with all of my relatives that have served and those that still are down range. Take care. Be safe.

I had a comment for and to this bench project, but now, after reading your whole comment(s) here, I have nothing to say, but THANK YOU! I am a 'senior' Canadian citizen, and I now have a 'tiny' idea of what our ( Canadian ) Service men and women have gone ( and are still going ) through as well. I am so very thankful that folks like you have done so very much for us,..... again I say, THANK YOU, ALL. Building projects like this are in fact, one of the best medicines people can take. ( no, I am not ignoring the fact that 'The Dusty Lumber Co' is part of the 'solution' here )

My story can't compare to yours, but I'm also disabled, with Cerebral Palsy. After retiring from Engineering at 58, I needed to do something to occupy myself. I started woodworking with basic tools. I'll never be able to match the level of productivity like we see here, but I still feel the same satisfaction when finishing a project or a request for someone else. They may not know why I take so much time initially, but they realize it in the end. Good luck in your builds; of wood and self-esteem.

I hope everyone watching appreciates the amount of time involved in set up and proper jig making. It's all the preparation and thinking time beforehand that makes this process appear so easy. I assure that it is not. Not to mention, having the machinery available to accomplish all this is a dream to most of us. As always, nice job, Dusty.

@@EdFhvn, as to his revenue from subscribers, he has that many because he is good at what he does and people who work with wood can learn new techniques watching his videos. I would be interested to find out how much he made off that coffee table he just finished. You won't find something like that at Ikea. I doubt I could afford it. He makes money from his videos but his work pays him plenty as well. There is no shame in any of that.

The algorithm keeps suggesting this video, and I keep watching it, as I peruse the comments. It gets kinda old seeing haters dogging Dusty for his shop and his tools. I don't know for 100% certain, but I'm pretty certain his fairy godmother didn't just show up and drop it all in his lap, then pat his cheek and float off to wherever fairy godmothers go. I'm pretty certain that revenue from these phenomenal builds he is generous enough to share with us gave him the wherewithal to build this fantasy shop. I have most of the skills. I have tools adequate to the task. I could build this table...but it would take me longer than seventeen minutes. That is where Dusty shines. Shows us enough technique to fire up our imagination. Uses tools we mostly all have...arm saws seem to have gone out of favor, but I have lugged one around thru seven moves in 35 years because they are so dang versatile. Do we all have King and Festool. Probably not. But most of us have what we need to accomplish what just happened here. We just gotta git out and start the process.
