Hi Sue and GV, the way you film is perfect. I suppose the snake cam could be used to sneak a peak into an area you cant otherwise see and you are curious about. Then you could tell us.That would be the only reason I can think of. I think what you do is perfect. It was so interesting you showing us the difference between the two. I have a very expensive snake camera. It has a very wide view, and is high definition. It is moved around with two hand controls. However its not cheap. For most people it's overkill. In this case could be interesting however the price of them for a really good one isn't cheap. Do what you do I like it just fine.

I think it is pretty clear why you don't use it. It's pushing the snake camera beyond it's intended use in drains, so it wouldn't have great detail far away and the insufficient lighting virtually disappears in the crypt. Great video explaining it!

Informative as ever. I do however feel as though I'm going to have an epileptic fit from watching all that jiggly-joggly snake cam video and I'm not even an epileptic. Decidedly awful quality, and while I'm more than certain you'll now have a thousand opinions on which snake cam you "should have purchased" or how to better employ it, just keep doing your videos the way you have with a torch and camera. It has brought you success thus far and I've no doubt it will continue to do so. Thanks so very much for all the hours of hard work and labor you put in simply to entertain us for a few minutes. You are indeed appreciated. Be blessed and be well in all things, Sue.

Both are interesting and it also depends on the quality of the "snake camera." The bore scope I use for my car rebuild work would give you no better view at distance if better light. But I have seen and used ones that are much better than either of us are using. It really depends on if it is worth spending that much for one that gives you a higher-grade image. They are really designed for looking at things in tight spaces so anything at distance is not going to be very well lit or in focus. Anyway, it has a use and that would be for spaces you cannot otherwise see into. But it is your show, and we love it anyway :-)

"Snake" cameras, like digital and smart phone cameras are getting better all the time. Maybe it's time to upgrade the "snake"? The newer ones, are considerably higher definition. Using one to make a "movie" isn't advisable. The movement might cause someone to have motion sickness. "Snake" cameras are better for snapshots after movement has stopped and the camera has had time to focus. Piggybacking a hi-intensity torch to the "snake" cam is advisable.

I'm your expert but I know there's a difference between a drain camera and one that would be used in like a borescope that goes down in a motor.. they have so you can actually turn the head around and wiggle it in 360°... There's usually a light on the end of it.. I just know it works well in automotive and motorcycle applications but you're probably right when you trying to look into a big room it probably does not work

If you have a straight shot in, you could take a piece of rebar and tape the snake cam on one side and a mini-mag light on the other. Then you would have a lot of light and control over the camera.
