Hello, my friends! If you want to like, comment, share or subscribe I'll be very happy!
My dear friends, with this video I take you with me once again in the beautiful Valle d'Aosta Region, located in the north-west of Italy.
And precisely I will take you to Cogne, one of the "pearls of the Alps", a famous tourist location renowned for its spectacular position and the beauty of its incredible views.
It is in fact in an absolutely enviable position at the foot of the Gran Paradiso massif at 1,544 meters above sea level.
Cogne also overlooks the spectacular "Prato di Sant'Orso", considered one of the most beautiful and largest prairies in Europe, preserved by urban development, which in winter becomes an immense cross-country ski track and in summer a wonderful and endless walk in front of the Gran Paradiso.
The locality of Cogne is what is called a "scattered municipality", that is formed by several neighboring villages in which, however, urban development has been limited to preserve and enhance the beauty of the area's landscape heritage in the best possible way, while guaranteeing the maximum hospitality to the many tourists, foreigners and Italians who stay there in every season.
The historic center of Cogne is a small jewel, with characteristic wooden houses and balconies full of flowers and many craft shops where you can find precious souvenirs to take home.
The lace made as it once was with bobbin lace, a very popular activity in the area, is particularly appreciated.
The parish Church, dedicated to Sant'Orso, has very ancient origins, but its current appearance is due to an extension completed in 1642, while the original bell tower was demolished to make way for the present one, built in 1840.
The historic iron fountain built in 1809, which is located right in front of the Sant'Orso meadow, is one of the symbols of Cogne.
Since the Middle Ages, in fact, Cogne has been an important mining center for the extraction of magnetite and iron.
The water that flows from this beautiful fountain is cold and very pure. A sip of this water will quench your thirst from the summer heat!
Numerous valleys, paths, paths, walks of all kinds and difficulties depart from Cogne, always in an extraordinary and uncontaminated nature in the middle of the Gran Paradiso Park.
The Gran Paradiso National Park, the oldest in Italy, is a vast protected natural area, established by the State to preserve the perfect ecosystem of the area.
Inside it gathers five concentric valleys within which are the most characteristic alpine landscapes.
The symbol of the Park is the alpine ibex, an animal safeguarded from extinction thanks to the existence of this protected area.
We have followed one of the itineraries that start from Prato di Sant'Orso in Cogne and go into the Valnontey valley.
We were able to enjoy this absolutely wonderful scenery, the silence broken only by the chirping of birds and the sound of the tumultuous water of the Valnontey stream with our gaze turned to the Gran Paradiso massif. Just wonderful.
This video was shot last October before the second wave of the pandemic.
I wanted to film both the outward and return journeys from Cogne in a small drive tour, to allow you to admire the incredible beauty of these places.
An absolutely breathtaking scenery which I hope you will enjoy.
As always, I want to thank you for the friendship and affection you always show me through your comments.
Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart!
I also want to thank the many of you who have already visited the @Bonnie Nadine Newman's channel. collaborating with her, through the drafting of Italian texts taken from my poems together with the wonderful music of Maestro Kjell Karlsson.
