Cool vid . I really love the sound of a bucker in parallel . Prefer it than split coil . In parallel we get the single coil clarity vibe but a bit fatter and no noise . Love the config . I got push/push 500K pots doing the series / parallel job on 2 of my dual bucker guitars . Sounds great . Best of both worlds and great versatility .

Ótimo video com ótimos sons! Dá pra ver que em paralelo se tem um belo som limpo que sustenta e enfrenta melhor o HB cheio em série do que splitado, onde normalmente ocorre boa perda de volume e muitas vezes de corpo também.

I'm switching all my D'Angelico's that have the Push/Pull Series/Coil-Splitting to Series/Parallel...what are your thoughts about coil-splitting vs Parallel? I can't hear much difference between Parallel and coil-split configuration...aside from the fact that Parallel is silent...while the coil-split makes noise while at rest

Coils in parallel have the same hum cancelling proprieties as coils in series. It sounds like a fat noiseless single coil pickup (almost a a P90). It's not a real single coil tone, but it's quite acceptable as a second tone option from the same pickup. Coil split has noise and doesn't sound like a real single coil either. So, in my humble opinion, coils in parallel have more advantages.

Agree, though I like the spin-a-split, where you can roll of a coil with a knob.

Hi I have Jackson Warrior WRXT MIJ 2007 on basswood with Jackson 580 bridge with Duncan Design Detonator HB108 b/n. I want change bridge pick with DiMarzio Super Distorzion. I dont know which is best connect and wired. I want bright chrisp harsh sparkly sound not bassy and muddy. Well I really dont know what is best opnion How I know paralel is quiet and series is more bassy so booth is not what I need. I dont know how is tone with one HB in bridge is it better than HB b+n and how must connect him. Realy dont know how guitarist like George Lynch, Waren D Martini or EVH have wired pick ups.I cant find in web. What is your experience. Which way would be best for me. What do you think. Thank you very much kind regards

Hello brother, I always tend to recommend people to try get the best out of what they already got before changing pickups. That said, if I were you, I'd try to have a push-pull pot installed in your guitar in order to have series/parallel options from your bridge pickup and than see if those two "voices" can do what you're searching for. If it doesn't do what you want, than you change your pickups. One thing you must always have in mind is that the pickup is just one part of the equation of a guitar tone. If you use a studio record as a tone reference, that guitar sound passes through mics, compressors, EQs in the recording, mixing ans mastering process (and I didn't even mentionned pedals, amps and cabinets in the guitar chain). So, if you plug your guitar in an amp and can't get the sound you love from those guys you've mentionned records, it's not the "fault" of your pickup only. Maybe you just need a little more treble in your drive pedal (or in your amp). Know your gear! And the most important item in this whole equation is YOUR HANDS! How and where you pick and attack the strings, how you fret notes, how you bend strings, how is your vibrato technique, how you get harmonics and all that have a HUGE influence in your tone. Think about it before spending money in something that you probably already have. I hope it helps anyway! Peace and tone!

Not much difference with gain. Parallel just scoops the mids a bit. But clean is another story. I usually wire all my neck position pickups Parallel and leave them that way.

Check the last part of the video. There’s a big difference even with gain. The last part doesn’t have drums. Just the guitar.

I agree that parallel sounds a ton better for clean, but it's nowhere close to an actual single coil :\

I agree with you! That single coil 60hertz hum has it’s part on the tone. Magnet material and it’s position on the coil structure is another important point in this equation. But it’s noiseles! That counts as a big score in some buzzing stage situations.

Does a HB in parallel sound better than a split HB in parallel with a Middle SingleCoil PU ? (With 500K Vol pot.) I have an HSH and am considering to remove the middle SC PU and simply have each HB in parallel on positions 2 and 4. (That way I would have less magnets to pull on the strings.) Thanks for your video !!!!

Hello Tanguy, I don’t have any guitar HSH and I’ve never installed this kind of wiring in a customer HSH guitar. But what I can say is that a humbucker in parallel with a single coil will work just like if it was in series (they won’t be hum canceling).

@@relicguitar Hello RCS !! What I meant is the "split" HB in // with the middle SC PU. So it's only 1 coil from the HB in // with the Middle SC PU. Both coils are opposite in order to cancel the hum. (It mimics the position 2 and 4 of a SSS strat.) So the difference with a "parallel-wired HB" is in the distance between the coils and the fact that the Middle PU is a real SingleCoil. (However I don't like this Middle SC on its own so I would be ok to remove it but is it worth the hassle?) (I also had the configuration that you described in your reply ; I had that on a regular HSS : it's sounds a bit fatter, less twangy, less funky, but still more scooped than bridge position, to stay in the background of the singer for example.) Thanks for your reply !!!!
