This was the trick that got me into magic at around age 9. Now I want to show it to my son. Thank you for making this video! It brings back good memories.

Tank you so much for this video! I was told by my father about this trick when I was a kid. His father did the trick with him when he was a kid, probably in the late 1940s. He told me that he figured out how it was done after several weeks of thought, created the similar props, and then performed the same trick on his father, who was greatly impressed. I have never seen the trick performed before. I loved it! They are now gone.

Hi. Thanks for the great box building idea. These kind of boxes are almost impossible to find. I noticed that the staples stick out slightly and you can get hurt. I usually use a big needle or similar to support the bent staple end and then push the outer part against the surface to make the staples look more like they are if you staple thinner material. Hope you understand what I mean. I also have one hand stapler which can be used so that the bendable parts are inside the box. Also if you want to make more flat tube, you can insert a wooden ruler or something inside the tube and gently hammer or squeeze it with pliers to get it flatter to avoid the eight figure shape. The hobby shops sell thin wall brass tubes if you want to make lighter version but those crumple easier than this one. But nice idea too.

I bought this trick in Canada in about 1980, at a stampede(I'm from Ireland) it was a matchbox and the next box down was a little metal box hinged at one end, then a little cloth bag, I wish to hell i can remember what happened to it. This is good but maybe a bit to bulky.

My baby brother (now around 54) used to be a professional magician. He did a professional video called Magic 4 Morons. This should have been in that video. Great trick.
