@@catisreckless4647 They have two different effects, and random chance decides which one will happen (except in the edge case where your hand is only one or more copies of a single Danger! monster). That's a gamble card. Gamble cards don't need to have the possibility for nothing to happen or for something bad to happen in order to be gamble cards. By that definition, Sixth Sense, Fiend Comedian, Lucky Straight, Speedroid Wheel, and probably several others aren't gamble cards. Having a negative effect just makes them bad gamble cards, which was a point that was brought up several times in this and the previous video. And to really prove the point, the Danger! monsters could all be errata'd to require the use of a die to select the card to be discarded, and the only functional difference would be the potential interactions with other dice-related cards that no one would play anyway.

The other half involves some negation shenanigans as well using dice rolls. It's a 7 monster archetype with about 3 named spell/trap cards. THEN, for non archetype cards, maybe a good field spell that applies that hand reveal to force a positive to any coin toss and/or dice roll effect, but it would still need to be the archetype that needs to be revealed. i would recomend a continous or field spell card that let you choose the result of a gamble but have a high cost like halving your life points or having to banish facedown the top card of your deck everytime you use that effect also i would like a field or continous card where both players during their turns can roll a dice and they gain an effect based on the result like destroying an opponents card or draw 1 card and one of the possible results could be to destroy itself and then the player that activated the self destruct effect or destroyed this card by other means lose life points or something

Your first idea is a recipe for tier 0 Arcana force deck. They cant let you do that. They can use Arcana Force: The World effect infinitely. Half LP? Its a cheap cost if you can skip your opponent turn. Damn, thats card is a ticking time bomb ready to blow up anytime a decent gamble support card is released. Just like Snake Rain with any decent reptile archetype.
@zorohibiki
2 жыл бұрын
@@refkiriswansyah2830 then what about a second effect where the card that used the coin flip is banished face down immediately after its effect is resolved? with this and putting the world in the limited ban list should be enough or maybe the cost for activation is a high set number like 10,000 life points representing how cheating could be more expensive than playing glambles fairly
@refkiriswansyah2830
2 жыл бұрын
@@zorohibiki Banished is okay, at least it wont be able to do the effect over and over. Just 1 skip is viable for the game. 10,000 LP cost is not. First because the cost is too much for the effect (sure some cards would be OP with that, but it depends on what cards you use those effect for, not the cards effect itself). Even 7000 is still to much for the effect cost that need 2 cards to go off. 4000 is decent. That way you can only use it 1 time (normally, twice if you rise your LP for any minimum amount), while leaving your LP not so low after that and it still viable to play normally, but still locking you to not be able to use it twice immediately.

They can make an archetype that focuses mostly on s/t instead that supports the existing gamble cards and maybe add some boss monsters instead of a bunch of other gamble monsters. Example, generic field spell(s) that adjust gamble result. Spell cards that searches those field spells that also has a monster search effect like, they search a monster that requires die roll or coin toss. Add some gamble effects that activates on GY to synergize with snipe hunter. Add more extra deck gambling cards.

they should make a gambling archetype around lucky straight that has effects like rolling dice to change the levels of all their monsters on the field, maybe something like, "roll 3 dice, then select 2 of the results and all your [archetype]/[type] monsters on the field's levels become the sum of those 2 rolls until the end of this turn." and put in a few other xyz monsters of different levels so that you still have options if you don't get 7. and maybe give them a level 12 boss monster

Extra Dice Normal Spell If this card is at the top of your GY, or there are Fusion, Synchro, Xyz and Ritual Monsters in the GYs, you can banish it to activate its effect (in case of both conditions, the effect can be applied twice but paying once). Pay 1500 Life Points and roll a six-sided die: 1: Set, Flip or Normal Summon a monster. 2: Ritual Summon from your Hand or GY. 3: Fusion Summon from your Extra Deck. 4: Synchro Summon from your Extra Deck. 5: Xyz Summon from your Extra Deck. 6: Special Summon a non-Effect or Pendulum Monster from your GY. You can also use face-up monsters at the top of your Deck and/or GY as Tribute or Material for a Summon with this card’s effect. You can only activate one “Extra Dice” per turn.

To make them viable create cards Spell/Trap/Effect that you could chain before (makes negation kinda hard if you dont know what comes) you activate a Dice/Coin Card to get a specific result. May not be Meta but could work u go -2 by default (depend on card effect obv) Draw 2 Cards at the Cost of 2 Cards good for mill not broken for Card advantage But tbh would be way too much work to get a new ban list in order to balance around that cause u negate all negative effects for an additional -1 and obv draw an additional card to activate the card

I think the best way to make a future Gamble Archetype good like in Duel Links is to just give them all GY effects where if you use a coin toss effect you can banish a card from the GY to change the result to Heads. Make all the good effects heads and make it all Archetype - locked. Then, just give them a Solid Link Monster as a Boss Monster and maybe have it turn on all the Archetype Cards to be always Heads as well. I dunno. Could work. Make the Boss Spell Speed 4 just in case.

just to know how finicky this mechanic is, MtG sticks to coin flips and only used dice rolling (in competitive formats than silver-border/acorn-stamped cards) 28 years after it came out. And just like you said, the dice-rolling effects are all positive and scale with the result.

Cup of Ace is honestly a great and simple example. When activated, it has a 50/50 chance of letting either player draw two cards, which seems balanced and reasonable on the surface, and a lot of gamble cards are designed similarly, where the up-and-downside LOOK equivalent. But they aren't. On a heads, you used a card and drew two. That's a +1, a pot of greed. A premium effect. On a tails, however, you used s card and your opponent drew 2. That's a -3, which is beyond terrible. Averaging them out, this means you are on average looking at a straight -1 in card advantage with no other effect. Looking purely at the theoretical numbers, It's a sparks that doesn't even do damage. Of course that isn't the reality, since sparks does not impact the gamestate at all (aside from the player who drew it just essentially not having drawn anything but discard fodder). While cup of ace on average on paper has the same level of advantage, it is, when used, either a -3 or a +1. Schrödinger's card draw, with the actual effect of the card only being known after it hits the field. A +1 gives you some nice momentum and can extend your combos. It is doubtlessly a powerful effect if it can be guaranteed, but it is unlikely to win a game on its own. A -3 can absolutely lose you the game right then and there, however. Especially when your reward for that cost is literally nothing. It means playing a 4-card starting hand against a 7-card one, and that loss of advantage is very difficult to come back from. So that's the real issue with Cup of Ace and similar cards. While their effect looks fair on the surface, the resources you put into playing the card in the first place lessens the positive result and strengthens the negative result. They are, on average, just giving your opponent free advantage or life points.

I think if they made a New Gamble Archetype, They could make it so The cards have An "Good Effect"(x The Amount of Different effects they want) and then One "Even Better Effect". Then Each Card has a Bonus Effect where you can reattempt BUT if you do and you don't get the "Even Better Effect" then You get a Negative Effect(Different Effects for Different cards) on top of your "Good Effect".

I wish gamble cards will still have good to very good effect, but at the risk of increasingly riskier cost, like if you roll a dice, 1-2 you draw 1 card, 3-4 you draw 1 card and lose half LP, 5-6 you draw 2 card but reduce you LP to 500

A Yugioh version of MTG's Gamble card could work. Gamble {R} Sorcery Search your library for a card, put that card into your hand, discard a card at random, then shuffle. Garapon Lottery Normal Spell This card can only be activated at the start of Main Phase 1. Add 1 card from your Deck to your hand, then randomly banish 1 card from your hand face-down. You can only activate 1 "Garapon Lottery" once per a turn.
