About Col du Mont-Cenis via Lac du Mont-Cenis (South Climb):
This ride takes you up to a magical 'heaven lake' in the heart of the French Alps and on to Col du Mont-Cenis. You start your ride on a sunny day in the Italian region Piedmont. From the small hamlet Giaglione you start working your way up the mountain. There is no warm-up on this ride, so be prepared to a steady eight percent slope right from the beginning. The first segment of the route is a typical mountain road with occasional views of the big mountains. You ride for about 13 kilometers / 8 miles before you get to the border to France. As you ascent, the scenery goes from good to amazing. After the border crossing, you ride along a few water channels filled with fresh clear mountain water from the dam. In front of you have a beautiful view of the hairpins you are about to ascent. These hairpins are a threat and a true pleasure to ride. The hairpins take you up to the foot of the dam. From here you work yourself up even higher to where you can enjoy stunning views of the dam and the gorgeous 'heaven lake' Lac du Mont-Cenis. The remainder of the route is a full-on cycling fest with amazing views of the lake and the mountains. The road ascents and descents along the lake until you do the last ascent up to Col du Mont-Cenis. Col du Mont-Cenis has been a part of Tour de France and Giro d'Italia several times.

Adding music to the ride:
Most cyclists would agree that the ride to Col du Tourmalet is awesome. But when it comes to music opinions are very mixed. This is why we do not add music to our rides. We simply do not want to spoil your ride with music you do not like. But it is quite simple to add it yourself. Open an extra browser tab. Find a site that offers music (Spotify, KZitem, etc…) and pick the music you like and enjoy the ride...
