Great video thanks. I have a Triumph lathe which has an identical system. I have a problem. The lever won't latch. I have to hold it in place for the lathe to run. If I adjust the linkages so it latches the limit switch trips and it won't run. What is the limit switch for? And how do I fix it? Is it a linkage problem or do I need to strip the whole switch down? Thanks

Hi Stuart, sorry for my ignorance but what is a vfd, I probably know it by another title.

Variable frequency drive to run the lathe from 230 single phase it transforms it to 230 three phase but I wanted to keep it running off all the original front switches which was were my problem came but I over came it by wiring the on off switch to the vfd and wired the motor direct to the vfd rather than running through all the old switches on the front I wired the forward reverse in on the three phase coming from the vfd thanks for replying

My pleasure sorry I wasn,t much help, mine is running off an inverter that changes it to 415 volt three phase.

Stuart Booth hey, just seen this reply, I’m in middle of doing same thing, i bought a 3 phase 240v Crabtree coil as my vfd output 3ph is only 240v and the original Crabtree was a 3ph 440v coil. But I also want to retain the reverse switch, can you just confirm what you have done please? Was it vfd, through reverse switch to motor? And the front main on off you have wired into the control side of the vfd Thanks in advance, Doc cox, if you see this I have asked you a question on your lathe strip down vid, ta
