Hi I have just bought one of these for my first car and was wondering who did you get your car insurance with and how much did it cost? Thanks, Will.

Sounds like a 1.1 Renault 5 and for an OHV it's quiet due to it having hydraulic lifters.

If you want a word of advice get the later 600 because it was fitted with a much more modern FIRE engine, it's more simple and easier to mantain.

what kind of maintance do you have to do to the 900? None instead of oil and filter change the 1.1 FIRE needs timinig belt changed and valve gap adjusted, the old 900cc is easier and runs forever

Great little car, but I can hear your timing chain, your alternator bearing and probably the gas tank ventilation system is faulty too, so your car idles a little rough. But the car will always run and is indestructable
@GreenShogun

14725800369 I no longer have this engine in the car. However timing chain was new when this was filmed, not sure how you can tell alternator or vent system were faulty but I had no issues with either for the next 60k miles! If you're referring to the ticking it's the fuel injector
@no-damn-alias

well the whining noise usually is the alternator bearing and the rattling is the timing chain, even if it's new, as long as you don't replace the tensioner it'll keep rattling or the rattling is the throw out bearing. Maybe not an issue with the car, but still not perfect
@GreenShogun

The whining is the water pump. They are centrifugal. This car doesn't have a tensioner.. I can't hear any rattling and never heard any. Also bare in mind this video shows a COLD start. Once the engine warms up they run much quieter
@no-damn-alias

if I take a look at the repairing instructions for that engine, there's clearly a chain tensioner and after some years it wears out and just falls down into the oil pan and the chain makes that rattling noise and believe me bearing is bad, with a new alternator and tensioner you almost can't hear the engine, the waterpumo is very reliable in that car

Okay, as I said this engine isn't even in the car anymore!

@@GreenShogun your videos were useful to me as although I have a Haynes manual it's not as good as actually seeing the jobs done on the car's. I've a head gasket to do on a 1108 sporting whenever I get round to it. My 899cc is running like a clock.

Just the color schemes and overall design of most European cars are very different from the typical American car interior.
