Enjoy your videos, you're an entertaining presenter! Did you mention that it's BIG-ass? I like big bowies and such like but wasnt ready for how big this sweet steel actually IS in comparison (say) to my hands... almost like carrying a sword! My Cold Steel bowie selection is nearly filled out now- a couple of TrailMasters including an stag-gripped C-V TM, a Laredo, a pre-bankruptcy Camillus bowie in the "secret steel" aka C-5, and several C-5 kookeries, a 1917 (one of my "out the door" knives) and of course a Natch... Dunno if I'll be getting anymore Cold Steel products except on the used market.. seems that the TrailMasters have been deleted and replaced by the stamped "survivalist" line. Fortunately there is a world of OTHER blades available on the US market so I won't be "boo-ee knife" challenged anytime soon. Thanks for the videos you post, always interesting, and very "human" as opposed to droning and clincal! Oh, yes, enjoy looking at yer tats, makes me feel like I'm watching a Pict! ;{)

Awesome review. As an avid Cold Steel fan, collector and user of their blades, I'm on the fence. I love the design, how they payed homage to a classic design. Have an Espada, (going on over 5 years) Rajah and Spartan and really looking to add this to the collection. Would love a big, beautiful but deadly bowie. Would you say it is worth it as a display piece and as a utility blade? I have far less expensive utility blades for multiple purposes but this one just screams, "You need me!" Haha.

irsauers maaaan... you have great taste. those are two of the best. I guess it really comes down to two things. what do you plan on using it for and what is your hand size. if its a camp/hunting knife, the case. if its a collection piece, the case. if you simply want a bad ass fighting knife, the natchez. if you have normal human sized hands, you might want the case. both are awesome though. check my review on the 1917 bowie too.
@isaacs_knives_and_knowledge

Donnie B All Day I've really been leaning toward the Natchez. I love the look of it. I'd like the knife to be everything. I also like the extra connection to Jim Bowie with Natchez name because I'm a history buff. My hands are average if not on the small size. I'm strong though. I'm not a huge outdoorsman but would like something to take on hiking and fishing trips. I see you recommend the Case more for hunting and camping though. Home self defense would be a use for the knife as well. I'll probably get both someday. Other reviews on the case have said the blade might be a little on the thin side, but you didn't mention that from what I recall. They're within $20 of each other on Amazon. A tough decision for sure.
@DonnieBAllDay
6 жыл бұрын
irsauers the case might fit your hand better and is a use it for anything blade. the natchez looks like Jim Bowies Texas knife where the case is designed after Jim Bowies western knife. both are direct descendants of his. You really can't go wrong with either and if you plan on getting both anyway, either one would be great. The reason I say the case when it comes to actual outdoor usage is because of the long clip point on the Natchez . They have some that slipped through the cracks where the heat treat is not solid all the way to the tip and they can bend but it is rare. as far as blade thickness, the case Bowie is definitely thick enough to handle all tasks. the steel at uses is high carbon and built similar to survival knives where they don't need to be a railroad track to be strong.
@ronalddunne3413
5 жыл бұрын
@@isaacs_knives_and_knowledge The case would almost be perfect EXCEPT that is is only 1/8-inch thick. It is a time-tested design and many were taken to RVN by soldiers who wanted something bigger than the bayonet.. Mine has rust speckle from being used hard and put away wet. Battle-field scars if you will. CS makes the Wild West, a copy of the Case design, 10.5" long, of 1090 steel... Not mentioned here, but you might check out the CS TrailMaster. Less bulky and lighter than the Natchez and an all-purpose blade. Or the Recon Scout, a shorter version of the TM.
