A weapon for a real brute right here. That knuckle guard will smash right through concrete. Would be a nightmare to go up against.

The practical use for this knife, is when someone comes in your house at night. I keep mine on ky nightstand. I have a young daughter, so I keep my guns locked up. I have yet to buy a quick access nightstabd safe. My wall safe would take too long to open, with a 6 digut code. I also would definitely take this knife hiking and camping for a few days.

They're difficult to find, but I've actually watched some brutal tests of both the Bowie and Tanto versions. I imagine most people are worried about tang strength. Unless you don't tighten down the screws after chopping (the blade will loosen in the handle eventually), it will never break at the tang. It breaks exactly where you would expect it to, and pretty much all large knives break: about 1_in forward from the aluminum handle grip. Surprisingly, after very heavy chopping of different kinds of wood, and batoning, there were no rolls or chips in the blade, and it was still able to shave arm hairs. I'm eventually going to sharpen the back swedge on mine. This is a fighting/killing knife, not a woods survival knife (although it can be used as one). Due to the lack of being able to switch grips easily, back cuts and penetration are very important.

oh yeah and you fogot to mention that the Bottom of the knife can be used to break windows, I like all knive reviews but I think it would be good to take turns on OTF,. switchblades, and all the other knives

Yeah, it seems like I have been working through specific categories. Budget knives, higher end knives, OTFs, now fixed blades. I'll try to do a better job mixing it up! Thanks for watching!

So, while making a fire over the weekend, I batoned like four logs that were about 12" in diameter, and 2' tall (chainsaw cut for ax splitting). This knife went through all of them like butter. There were zero problems. The only caveat, is that I had literally just sharpened it on my Work Sharp Ken Onion earlier in the day, and it was hair shaving sharp. This is a quality knife. I cut each log section into 4-6 pieces. There was absolutely zero edge damage.

That's awesome, but not surprising. I've come to expect that from Cold Steel. They make a tough knife!

@@BellowsBlades IMO, their SK-5 steel (1085), is the best high carbon steel from the major manufacturers. It has a great balance between toughness, strength, and ease of sharpening. Ontario switched all their knives to 1075. The used to be 1095. I'm not a fan of the hardness and brittleness of 1095, so I applaud the switch. However, I get the feeling that putting a decent edge of my SP10 Marine Raider Bowie is going to take 3 hours. I haven't done it yet. It comes butter-knife sharp from the factory. I won't complain, considering it's the beefiest carbon steel Bowie out there, and I got mine for $60.

I have got one but I would never take it into the woods (76% of Finland are covered by forests !) for bushcraft. There are more suitable knives for that. Anyway “that’s not a knife…. That’s a knife”…. Crocodile Dundee 1

Honestly, it's a little large for bushcraft. Also, the handle/tang connection might be a little weak for that kind of work. But yes, the Crocodile Dundee reference definitely comes to mind!
