I am AJ, the Wax Painter. But today I am the Cold Wax Painter. I many times alternate between cold wax and hot wax. They are very different. Cold wax is a medium made from Beeswax mixed with mineral spirits. Hot Wax is encaustic wax that as the word says- requires heat and fusing.
In this video I am using R&F Pigment Sticks with their Wax Medium to work on a small abstract painting. I also use the R&F Pigment Sticks in my Encaustic Wax paintings to be used to highlight scraped or incised lines in the wax.
This technique requires no heat element, but it does require drying time, just like a traditional oil painting.
As you can see I am using a Silicon Shaper type brush, but you may also use a traditional oil paint brush and paint in a traditional way, just like in oil paints.
