It's just really weird to me that he would even ask his friend if he could make a video about THEIR trauma. It'd be different if she came to him, but telling her "you'll be helping other girls" is just guilt-tripping and manipulative. And it's not his story to tell. Plus with the (supposed) incident happening not even that long ago, the victim is probably still very confused and shocked, and he took advantage of that.

It doesnt matter what your morals are.. once they say "I'm not comfortable". Then. They. Are. Not. Comfortable. It is not your story to tell no matter how you feel it'll inspire strangers. Help them seek actual justice and make sure they you bring them back to where they once were before the incident. They may never be the same and that thought is scary enough. Support your friends do not profit off of them like that.

Hi im a rape “victim” and i think he is sick for making the video when the victim said she doesn’t want people to know about what happened because she is not comfortable. I was raped and i have not told a single soul because of people like this, who ignore the victims pleas to not tell everybody else. Its horrible that he ignored her and told HER story, while she told him multiple times she doesn’t want it out. Then trying to exploit such a traumatic event for money. I cannot believe people like this actually exist and i feel sick to my stomach that he thinks this is acceptable. If a victim says they do not want the story out, then you do not let the story out. End of discussion. This is so sick smh and can damage a victim in more ways then you can imagine and can be very triggering, especially when its allegations against such a big “idol” to many people. I also say “victim” in quotation marks because i do not want to think of myself as a victim because that has connotations of sympathy with me and i do not want that. I just want to explain from the perspective of somebody who has been raped.

all i keep hearing in this video is cole saying “this is not something *i* can just let happen. this is something *i* have to talk about. it would be against *my* morals to not talk about this.” he does not realize that this is not about HIM. this was not HIS story to tell. true or not, this was not something that had anything to do with cole. if this story really happened, i pity the poor girl who went through it. not only was she assaulted, she was manipulated and her trauma was used to make money and gain fame. absolutely sickening.

Just a genuine question, but why aren’t authorities ever really involved with these serious allegations like this when it comes to internet celebrities? Not to arrest him or anything, but to actually look into it and clarify whether or not it was true. I mean I don’t like the ace family as much as the next person, but there’s no actual solid proof.

According to a multitude of people they keep talking about how it’s hard for a victim to go to the police to report such a thing because of how unsupportive they are and how they just question the girl, but it also confuses me since I’ve had friends go to police 12 years later to report them being raped. So I dunno
@dots3854

i think you'd need to actually report it to the police if that happened? cause they can't launch an investigation off of internet drama alone. she probably didn't feel comfortable going to the police for reasons similar to why she didn't want it out online - not only is it a really sensitive topic that she's probably still recovering from, austin's a celebrity and word might get out about an investigation being done even if it didn't initially start on the internet, bringing her back to the place she didn't wanna be. these are obv just speculations tho, whatever her reasons are and which parts of the story are true i really hope she gets help and recovers. away from the spotlight.

I think what a lot of these allegations have in common is the public trying to take the law into their own hands as if actual professionals don't exist. I trust police to keep it discreet. I trust police to find the truth. We should be encouraging people to tell the police after being assaulted or raped, not be scared until time has passed and admit it online without reporting to the police. This pisses me off so much because it doesn't make sense to me.

YallCrazy most ppl do want to report or get justice but it’s super traumatising to hhe to explain what happened to u esp when the incident is recent and fresh in your mind. also the fact that they often wont be believed because like whos gonna immediately report after a shit ton of trauma. most ppl arent in a state where they are capable of it or if they try sadly ppl are often very dismissive.

YallCrazy Watch the tv series „Unbelievable” (it tells a story lifted from real life) to see how well some police officers are „trained” for talking to rape survivors in the 21 century. Victims don’t always get sensitive, kind police officers handling their cases and „second rape” is a very real thing. Don’t be naive.

That one response D’angelo brought up really pissed me off. In 2019 do ppl really still think that’s a valid argument for why a sexual abuse didn’t or couldn’t have happened? NY State just opened up a year long suspension of the statute of limitations for childhood sex abuse claims bc ppl are now starting to wake up to the fact that it takes a long time for victims of sex abuse to feel able to tell what happened to them. Rape is similar. Most victims don’t go to the police bc of fear. I mean growing up how many movies and specials did we see where a victim goes to the police & basically gets raped again by the system. How many stories do we see of rapes that were literally recorded on video or in photos and not only do the perpetrators not get convicted if they’re even prosecuted in the first place, & yet the victim is run out of town? Often labeled as a slut. Also Cole pressuring his friend to come forward bc “it’ll help others” is manipulative bullshit. When you’ve been raped and you didn’t go to the police, you already carry this fear that you not coming forward will result in someone else being raped. Even if you’re sure that nothing would have come of you going to the police. Bc god forbid you actually have sex or even worse (in the eyes of police) you do sex work, they’ll “file” your report in a very important file. (Trash.) Most states have multi year if not a decade long backlog of rape kits. Victims of rape don’t need someone guilt tripping them into coming forward if they’re not ready. And stan’s need to not use these lame af excuses for why their fav influencer/actor/musician couldn’t have done it. It sucks, sometimes ppl we admire do fcked up things. But revictimizing rape victims is a shitty af thing to do.

i know a lot of rape situations in my personal life where the victim didn't tell authorities just because it's not worth the hassle. you out yourself, you constantly have to PROVE your experience (innocent until guilty n that) and it's hard enough to even come around to yourself accepting and understanding that that's what happened, and like best case scenario? they get probation. all that reliving it and being case doubt on is not worth it when the victim would much rather just move on with their life and heal

(don't get me wrong, I also dislike the ace family for several reasons but that kind of accusation is heavy, I don't wanna hear the story from a second party who forced it out instead of being a supportive friend and not pressuring her to have it told). though I think everyone can agree coles honestly just sketchy, I haven't even heard of him till now and the way he doesn't even look into the camera really gives off an ingenuous feeling

Coles video made me so mad as a survivor, he just forced her to publicly re-live a traumatic situation with no attempt to give her the power over it. People who have been sexual assaulted had no control and taking away her ability to be ready and speak out (if she wanted to) on her own terms. Instead, he stole her story, knowing she wasn’t feeling safe, and did it so clearly for clout. She deserves better, he isn’t a good friend.

I had a friend that got sexually assaulted when we were young. I had to tell it to her parents because she was in risk of it happening again. Even if the situation is different, I’m really disgusted by what Cole did. He should not have said anything unless it was to protect her. And you can see his intentions were far from trying to help her because, instead of going to the police, he went and said it to the internet.
