This time we will introduce the DIY of the Coleman gasoline lantern 286A reflector. Coleman has a dedicated ventilator reflector that can be attached to the 286A. Furthermore, in this DIY, I made it possible to attach a reflector to the side. It is possible to light only the necessary part, and the brightness can be improved by reflection. The reflector can be easily attached and detached even after lighting the lantern.

■ Preparation of materials
Stainless steel plate 100mm x 200mm thickness 0.5mm
Stainless steel plate 70mm with M3 holes
M3 Bolt & Nut
■ Bracket processing
Make a bracket to fix the stainless steel plate that will be the reflector. The bracket should be hooked to the frame. Lines are drawn at intervals of 9 mm and 14 mm on a 70 mm stainless steel plate, and the points are bent with a monkey, pliers, and a hammer.
■ Processing of stainless steel plate
3mm diameter holes are drilled 45mm left and right from the center of the stainless steel plate 100mm x 200mm to fix the brackets. Also, since the four corners of the stainless steel plate are angular, we chamfer them slightly.
■ Bending of stainless steel plate
With the side of the stainless steel plate with the protective film up, bend it on the cushion with the CG can and the OD can. The trick to bending is to press both ends of the stainless steel plate with your thumbs and bend it. After the bend is complete, fine-tune it to fit the bottom circumference of the frame.
■ Mounting the bracket
Secure the stainless steel plate and bracket with M3 screws, bolts, flat washers, and spring washers.
■ Detachment confirmation of the reflector
We will check the attachment and detachment of the completed reflector. Attach and detach by hooking the claw of the bracket to the frame and removing it.
■ Check brightness
Turn on the lantern, attach and detach the reflector, and check the change in brightness. When side reflectors or ventilator reflectors are attached, areas that require light become brighter and areas that do not require light become darker. Also, if the campsite lights up to the next site, it can be prevented.
