I live in Iowa and went through the derecho of 2020. We lost power and gas for one week where I live. My Coleman camping stove came through for me cause charcoal was hard to come by because all the stores were closed due to either damage or no electricity. I had plenty of propane tanks and having at least one hot meal a day was a real moral booster during that time. I didn’t have to throw much meat out either cause I was able to cook it. I invited neighbors over and we all pitched in and fed each other so our food wouldn’t spoil. I actually met some really cool neighbors and made some new friends thanks to my Coleman camping stove.

Great review. Just picked up one of these for emergency use around the house or on camping trips. I was motivated to buy it because we were affected by the power outages during the Texas winter storm a few weeks back. I’ll never be caught without a decent stove to heat food or water again!

The local sporting store where I bought this stove did not know about an adapter. The stove has sat in the garage for about 10 years solely for emergency use. I'm glad to find this video. Ordering the adapter today. Toting the stove and propane tank for a camping beach vacation.

Everyone with an electric stove should have an alternative cooking method. One of these stoves along with the Coleman folding oven gives full function. Adding a 2 burner griddle to the set is like icing on the cake. From frying bacon to baking biscuits and grilled ham & cheese sandwiches, no reason to go without food or COFFEE in a grid-down situation. Just don't forget the percolator or go for cowboy coffee. :-)

good review! i'd add more pros: you can get a $13 adapter hose to hook it up to regular propane tanks, you can refill those little bottles for cheap at home with a $10 adapter, those little propane bottles last a long time with this stove (over 2 hours for us using both burners), carry handle is part of the metal case (not a separate piece to break off someday), all steel tough construction, simple K.I.S.S. design so nothing will leak, break or malfunction, the grate sits low to the burners so things heat up faster and more efficiently, the knobs have infinite adjustment dials, the flames are like torch-lighters so they never blow out even without wind-shield flaps. and it's low price! your "cons" are actually not cons for me - for example, i like that there is no ignition (something to break eventually), that it's compact (not gonna be cooking with such big pots/pans or backpacking with it), that it's got some weight (so it sits firmly even when bumped). my only con is that it takes a while to cool off (but that's still ok, because it's cool by the time we finish eating unless we eat a quick meal)

There's a section of the video (2m 12s) where someone's lighting the stove and turning the regulator knob. Notice the flame does NOT increase in intensity. I own 2 of these stoves and someone else bought a third as a backup (not knowing I had 2 already) - then I bought a Stansport, with a spark lighter as mentioned later in the video. I ended up giving away one of the coleman stoves. Coleman has 2, not 3 settings on this stove: OFF and BURN everything to a crisp. It's very difficult to get a "simmer" on this stove. I focused on Stansport after watching a Van-Life video and the person demonstrating how easily they could get a low flame. Bottom line, this stove is difficult to cook on if you're not simply boiling something. The good news... is that there are other products you could buy to help regulate the heat. There's a spacer, for instance, that can raise the level of the pot so that you can take on less heat. imo, why spend extra for that when you can just buy a stove that works great.

FLAME CONTROL FIX:Take the knobs off, then the square nut behind them, then unscrew the valve, wipe the horrible factory grease off the valve and inside the hole where the valve screwed into.Put new silicone grease on rubber o-rings of valves.Put back together and you now have amazing flame control all the way down to the tiniest flame for simmering or med flame for slow cooking.Improves the stoves performance 100 percent and only takes 10 mins to fix with a screw driver and some grease.Tip:after you take the nut off then screw the knob back on and use the knob the unscrew the valve.

Love my Coleman. I did a little modification that I am totally happy with. On the regulator where the bottle screws in I removed the entry pipe screen that is in the hole which allows much more flow of propane. It cranks now when boiling water. Actually heats water faster than my kitchen stove. You have two options after drilling out/removing the screen. You can remove the small pipe from regulator with a small socket - I forget the size. I JB welded a small cut finishing nail (cut to maybe a quarter of an inch long) into the hole leaving at least half of the hole area open. This need to be there in order to make contact with the valve in the tank and open it when screwed in. It should be flush to the entry hole. Another option is get another pipe off of an another device that does not have the screen. If you don't have one you can buy a cheap refill adaptor or hose that will have the same little pipe without the screen. Look around. Either way this makes a lot more propane flow which is restricted by the screen. I have had zero issues and a lot more enjoyment having this stove crank out the heat going this approach. Thanks for the video.

You know what we do in the military. We simply grab two bags. The first being the ruck sack which is the biggest. We pack it full and stick it on our backs. The second being the lightest is our assault pack.. to civilians.. it’s just a book bag or backpack.. we pack it full and stick it on our stomach. That way all you really have to carry in your hands is your portable stove.

A couple of tips for you: The wind regulators are also designed to reduce or increase the heat ( slightly ) as an added bonus. The further out to decrease the heat, the closer in to increase the heat. Make sure the first burner, the right burner, has heated up sufficiently before you attempt to start and light the second left burner. Trust me this will help.

I just bought a coleman 2 burner stove. This one only came with a lid & not the side wind guards. I'm camping right now so I'm hoping there is no wind for the next few days lol Btw, the heat controls suck. Idk why your able to twist the knobs so far. I'm considering taking a sharpie & put a dot to where "low" is suppose to be, then 2 dots for "medium" & 3 dots for "high". That way when we use it,were not fumbling around trying to make sure we got the right temp. Last thing I wanna do is burn what food we did bring

Need to check the videos for cleaning the needle valves and applying silicone grease. It solves all the control problems

Why does Coleman not have a 90 degree right angled regulator, that you can connect your 2kg gas bottle too, instead of this horrendous and annoying angled regulator....?

@@TheJourneyest2016 I mean, I get it. The point is to push the Coleman branded gas canisters away from the flame, but it really is ignorant and a poor design that fails to consider those whod like to use a gas bottle and save the planet of use of multiple overpriced gas canisters

If you get some plumbers grease, remove the knobs and pull out the needle valves you can grease them. It makes the stove work so much better.

What’s the difference between using this stove and a standard style? I see it says, “never use in a camper, tent, or home” . So why can I use regular gas stove in a home but not this one?
