I have a earlier version of this tent with no screen room. It is a Weathertec 9x17 tent. It has the metal poles and rain fly that only covers most of the tent.... When I received the tent I set it up and Seam Sealed ever inch there was any stitching. Then I sprayed the tent with Waterproofing. Living in Washington State if you don't camp in the rain you don't camp often. We are tarp exports and camp rain or shine. After owning the tent 5 years we stayed at a KOA camp near Astoria, OR. The second DAY it began to rain and the wind began to rage...20 to 30 mph winds with gusts to 50 plus. For 3 days the tent alone stood up to the wind until I added a tarp on the windward side staked to the ground and run up over the tent and bungee corded the loose end to tight lines staked down... We also had a 12x12 canopy set up with one corner to the wind wrapped with included walls and staked out. We cooked and played games under the canopy during the day.... 5 days of high wind and rain but both the tent and canopy are still in use today. If you take care of your products they will take care of you. SeamSeal, Waterproof Spray, and Bungee Cords added to tie downs so high winds don't rip the grommets from your tarp or rain fly. Enjoy and Good Luck out there.

Thanks for the video. I own a Coleman Red Canyon 8p weather tech. .great tent but in a heavy rain the rain fly did not hold too well. There was also rain coming through the zipper seams and the mesh windows. Next time I'm running a tarp over the text just in case for 2 purposes, 1 the rain obviously, and 2 to protect myself while setting up or breaking down the camp. It's a good tent overall.

Great review, I just started looking into this tent. I have a Marmot 4p dome but I'm looking for a larger cabin style to be able to stand up and do a little bit more in. I'm thinking not, but did it come with a footprint? And does the floor seem of thick material? I borrowed a Copper Canyon LX 8p but was not impressed at all, the floor was so thin and it took a while to set up.

We bought it in 2018 & went to Banff National Park & found out this is a warm weather tent! We were very cold because of the mesh roof! Setting it up is not simple! Bringing it to a warmer area of Alberta this week so hopefully it will not be too cold at night. It just might be a hot weather tent! Ours doesn’t have the rear window, which would be nice.

Thank for all the info - very nice!!! How long does it take to set up the tent, and, how many people are needed to set it up properly? Should I go ahead and get the sealant if I order the tent - I really want to order it because it seems to be so spacious. I like the fact it has no bottom to the screened in area, though - helps to keep you feeling like you're still in nature. Think I will get myself a large mat to "scrape" the dirt off my feet before I step into the tent/sleeping area. Oh, and, how durable are the zippers on each window and the doors?

I definitely would put a woodstove in your screen porch so you can cook and heat your tent eye-opening as much or little as you want of the door to control the amount of heat coming into your tent or you can heat the screened in porch while you’re up in a week and go to sleep with it cooler in your tent but if you can’t stand it just open the door to the patio and let the heat come in maybe with a Fan blowing in to your tent from the woodstove you’ll be loving life with coffee brewing in the morning

I always use one or two more canvases over my tent just keeps limbs from poking holes in my tent and it gives me a couple barriers before water gets to my tent never trust your tent no matter how leak proof it is always put one or two canvases stretched out over your tent specially the longer you campThe more canvas you should have floating over your tent for extra protection just saying as a experienced camper

@andrewhunt8908

There is no zip for screens on top only the rainfly. The tent did get cold at night when were camping because of that, but also always had air flow. The porch is stitched onto the main body of the tent so the only thing you could do is not put it up but it will be less stable then.

Aluminum is better and stronger than fiberglass poles . Aluminum poles are relatively lightweight. ... Despite their lightweight nature,aluminum poles are very strong. A majority of aluminum poles will hold fairly well against any overbearing stress caused by overburdening the tent - heavy winds and snow or operator error.
