Colin McRae an absolute legend, seems all the realest most special people that make changes in this world pass away too soon, we evolve because of special people like Colin, who are willing to take things to a whole new level, “example” most rally drivers would take a certain bend at 80-85mph maxed out 87mph Colin would take the exact same bend at over 100mph flat out! we put limits on ourselves, “fact” he shifted into 1st gear while he rolled the gold Subaru Impreza racing against travis pastrana at X Games shifted into 1st while rolling back onto its wheels wheels pined off n only lost 1 second! RIP COLIN MCRAE “if in doubt flat out”

One needs to be a rally driver of any level and having driven through a cold, foggy, rainy, half lit, Welsh valley, rally gravel stage, preferably around November, in order to appreciate exactly how hard it is to do HALF of what Colin does here. Believe me it is 10 times harder than it looks. This video sequence will live into immortality. 100 years from now, it will still be ruddy difficult to do this, if not outright banned by then because of health and safety. RIP Colin son of Lanark.

Colin was one of the safest heli pilots out there. As someone who has dabbled in rallying and a holder of a Private Pilots Licence, i can tell you there is no comparison between the two. You don't take risks in aviation in the way you do in rallying. Mistakes in aircraft rarely result in rolling it back over and carrying on. The cause of the accident was unclear. Nobody will ever know exactly what happened or why he was at such a low level. It's likely there was low lying fog patches but he would not have put the lives of his passengers at risk for fun. I met Colin on a couple of occasions and he wasn't in any way reckless. Professional pilots do not behave like that. His 5 year old son, his son's friend and Colin's friend were in the aircraft, not his wife. Don't disrespect his memory and the incredible memories he left for all of us by suggesting he flew like he drove.

Racing in general hasn't been the same since our legends left us.. Nascar is dead and most say it was when Dale passed, it died with him, Indy/F1 hasn't been as good since Senna passed even though it has a better fate than most racing genres today, Rallying with Henry Toivonen and his Co passenger passing away in a fiery inferno which banned Group B racing as a whole along with Colin McRae in WRC.. It's like things just stopped being great anymore and we haven't found stars like them ever since..

while most people think Colin Mcrae is a wild reckless man....i see him as an artist, always pushing the way beyond the boundaries of his art. In a car, on a rally stage, he painted an awesome picture. He was immensely precise and accurate, and he clocked amazingly fast times, going sideways, when everyone was saying going sideways is slow, something like what Michael Schumacher did with an F1 car, drifting and powersliding an F1 car, and clocking times faster than everyone else. Unfortunately, in rallying, the canvas is never forgiving. it is was, Colin would have won a lot more championships, just as how Michael did. And so is flying. always in my heart and mind....someone I wished i had just one opportunity to talk to. Colin needed to fly....and he is now.

Colin McRae was popular not because he was polished or said the right things. He was popular because he never went for the safe finish; with him, it was either win it or bin it. He gave his all every time he drove, and people responded to that. He was the Miguel Duhamel of rallying.
