From a preservation standpoint, I really hope solutions for flat screen TVs will flourish in the upcoming years. Thanks for the video!

There has to be possible to put on some kinda overlay that you hook up to the tv that will replicate it. The problem is the cost will be too high

@@Bubblun1 They are pretty hard to find here in Brazil, we just had some knock offs that were just plain bad and wouldñt work with most games. Now I´m looking for a Justifier!

Thanks for this man, Ive been looking at Elemental Gearbolt and a light gun for a while and I really appreciate the info so much. Subbed for a while, I'm also a big PS1 guy, it was my first home console.

Nice video. I love Light gun games. My favorite gun is the Predator 3. it is a 3rd party gun with composite sync and is compatible with the Sega Saturn and had a reload pedal. I highly suggest the Predator 3.

I have Starsky & Hutch (hey, I grew up with the show). Pretty tongue in cheek. You can hook up a steering wheel and pedals AND a Guncon ... Play with a friend or try to shoot and drive at the same time playing solo. 😊

I have 2 Guncon 2 from my dad. Too bad you don't have the Guncon 3 for PS3, it was like the Guncon 2 but the color and design is different. It have joysticks and it comes with a sensor thing to place it top of the TV (I connect the sensor on my dad's HD TV instead on the console and it worked.)

Lethal Enforcers was never on 3DO. Which is a shame, it would have done it very well. The PS1 version is a bit more difficult compared to the original arcade version (i have 3 different revisions of that arcade board here), especially the Japanese release, which was plain lunacy in some sections with difficulty being beyond a joke. Almost like you're playing a 50Hz game at 60Hz speed, but without the whole game being sped up, only some details. The external sync connection is quite misunderstood. The Guncon 1 and 2 (and their after market variants) were the only console guns that had it, and why they added it i just don't know. The Act Labs PC light guns also had it the two available boxes that the guns were connected to. The only valid use for it is to allow the gun to function as a pointer, with no flash needed to determine position. The Sega Saturn guns could do this and so could a few of the arcade guns. The other guns know the sync timing by getting it via the controller socket on the front of the console ONLY if there is a need for it. A lot of light guns simply had no need for it. The guns were very accurate, no doubt about it, but that was not because of the external sync connection. The Saturn light guns were every bit as accurate as the Guncon and never had external sync. Accuracy and consistency of a light gun is a factor of lens quality and photo cell quality as well as who programmed the game, basically nothing to do with sync, the console takes care of that. You will notice using something like a Predator or Nyko lightgun (or any other gun that was the same with different name, there was a few that were basically identical supporting both Saturn and PS1 with Guncon and Justifier modes for the latter) the accuracy DOES NOT CHANGE when using the gun on Guncon mode or Justifier mode, and further, accuracy is about the same on those guns when used on the Saturn. You can replace the photo cell in a Predator light gun with the photo cell from a Namco Guncon 45 and the accuracy is improved a bit, on both PS1 and on Saturn. No arcade machine had an external sync line into the light gun that i have ever seen on any of the ones i have here. They're almost always 4 wires, one is GND, one is 5v, one is sensor, and one is trigger. No sync, because it isn't needed and does nothing to change accuracy.

@@Bubblun1 I did the foot switch wiring over a decade ago. Also gave it a "trigger job" shortening the stroke. I only use the pedal for Time Crisis main mode, and boy that game is exhausting! These days I mostly use the Time Crisis "agent trainer" for bull's-eye practice (like a shooting range) and a few of the Point Blank 2 games (shooting the ninjas to save the gisha being my favorite) kzitem.info/news/bejne/2ZmCsqOPn6SBl20

are you sure the PS1 version is the same as PS2 because there is an important difference with PS1/PS2 video output PS1 games often dont work on PS2 when outputting SCART. My plan is to output SCART & use this adapter to tab into composite & inject it into the sync so the lightgun will work, people tell me I actually need custom cable that after market woman makes in europe

I need a little more info to help first. 1. Are you using a CRT TV to hook up the PS2? 2. How do you have the PS2 hooked up - Component, Composite, S-Vid, or RF? 3. Do you have the composite T-Cable that the GunCon 2 shipped with originally? 4. Do you have the Playstation Multi-out Adapter I show in the video?
