Verity is the most triggering book I’ve ever read. There’s on page attempted murder of a child and horrendous ableism. I have no idea why that book is so popular.

I use AI art to make pictures of my own book characters to show my friends because I have no drawing ability whatsoever. My creative abilities lie in writing, not visual art. Anyway I would never use it in any official way though. It's just for fun. That's so weird (and questionable) of Aster to do. Even if she somehow could not find real fanart to use, I'm sure she could have afforded to pay someone to make official art for the series.

Let me tell you one thing about movie rights and books: My favorite book is Uglies, a really fascinating YA Dystopia about a the friendship between two girls being weaponized again and again by their dystopian government fixated on beauty. It came out in 2005, and relatively soon after the movie rights got acquired. It only will come out as a movie THIS F****** YEAR. (To be honest this very likely having to do with it challenging Hollywood with how much it speaks out against beauty culture, it being very environmental activism friendly, the canon mental illness of both girls and the non-canon but very intensely subtextual homoeroticism, but then, from what I heard Babel also has some fairly challenging ideas with how much it is against colonialism and racism)

13:32 bruh people think that things are above criticism if it has something culturally anything in it, they always pull up something about it and claim that’s the real reason someone doesn’t like it. This happens allllllll the time about stuff made by women like the Madame web movie that just came out lol it’s such a lazy deflection and I think it makes all of our media worse and worse if we can’t discuss it or criticize it freely cuz now we just have to accept everything no matter the quality 💀 now we’re in this mess where every popular book is ass 😭
