Hey, I'm an Occupational Therapy graduate preparing for my board exam and I watched your video on using Tenodesis to grab objects since it was always taught to us in theory but that was the first time I saw someone do it for real. Thank you for all of your work. You managed to show me something new that I would not have seen anywhere else. Have a great day man!

Hi Mason, this is most interesting and totally inspiring. I went back to college in my late 20s after my injury. This was in 2003. Colleges 20 years ago were very good at making reasonable adjustments. However, I was still excepting my situation so probably could have been a bit more patient with the staff but on the whole it was a worthwhile and life changing experience.

I graduated with a 3.11 from Full Sail University's accelerated, online program on October 1, 2021. I earned my BFA in Creative Writing at the age of 46. It was hard but I loved it. I agree there are some advantages and disadvantages. The disadvantage of not being able to contact the professors easily is one I experienced too. But I did like that I didn't have to worry about how I'd get around. It took a lot of worry off of me knowing that accessibility in a classroom wasn't going to be an issue. My classmates and my professors were all interested in why I wanted to be a writer and were encouraging which was helpful. Especially on my hardest days. They would encourage me to keep going and offer to help in any way they could. And my oldest daughter was attending the same school but for Digital Cinematography so we worked together on several projects since she was an online student too. She has disabilities but is currently not in a wheelchair (due to her disabilities it's possible she will be one day. Not for the same reasons I am.)

Congrats on the degree. Thanks to muscular dystrophy I became a full time wheelchair user through my college years. From my experiences the campuses I attended were the most accessible places I have been. The technology of online learning has massively improved since I started college, online test taking with dial-up was a bear. By the time I finished my bachelors degree in 2008 (after 6 years) online classes were a viable alternative for some courses. The path I took to a degree in electrical engineering required a great deal of hands on lab work so online courses still require time on campus for labs. One thing that surprised me though is that when I went from a community college to university there was way less hands on work required. In actual work I've done, the equipment that I designed and worked on was never very accessible so when hands on troubleshooting was required I would work with a service tech.

That's interesting that universities required less hands-on work. Personally, I like community colleges because it's a more personal experience. I appreciate you sharing your experience. Thank you for watching and commenting!

@@masonx54 Community College was definitely a better experience. When I was at the community college every course other than math and english had a lab, at the university I think only 3 had labs. I hope that disparity isn't the case everywhere

Hi Mason, very nice video! I’m a 18 years old complete C4/C5/C6 quadriplegic since October 2022, the videos in you’re channel are extremely useful and please don’t stop making them, btw have you ever thought about hands surgery? (Sorry for my English but I’m Italian)

I'm glad to hear my videos are useful! You are very new to living with a spinal cord injury. Yes, I considered having surgery on my hands so that I could have a better grip, but decided not to do it. After a couple of years , I got used to doing things with the way my hands are. I actually talk about it in this video here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/1aqMs3yPiZ14qGk Thank you for watching and commenting!

Very sorry to hear about your injury, Enrico! You're very young, much like Mason when he was involved with his injury. Mason is an amazing inspiration for all people, not only those with extra challenges. You're in my prayers, Enrico, as I'm in my 22nd year with a spinal cord injury and understand how challenging it can be. It inspired a spiritual awakening that began my search for a deeper meaning in life. God bless you, young man! ❤
