Great Story! I also took my 9 year old and infant child to classes while I was pursuing a BA. My nine year old always listened to the classes. I remember one day during a Biology Test my daughter requested if she could be given the test and the professor was so nice and complied. Later in the week the professor told me that many in the class had failed the test but that my daughter had gotten a better grade than half of the students in the class. Many of those professors later became her mentors because she chose to study at my alma mater. She graduates this spring with a 4.0 GPA. A great professor can make a huge difference in many students lives.

@Stuart Hardin if 10 mothers are bringing their kids it’s because society failed them. The country failed them. Because they are trying to better their education to give those children better lives. They are trying to better themselves. They are doing what they can in the position they are in. It’s sad that someone doesn’t understand that. These mothers are amazing for being able to try to keep their education going, and care for their children at the same time. It shows dedication that keyboard warriors do not have.

I'm a retired college instructor myself, who struggled to get my MA in my 30s. I never did have a student bring a child to class, but I certainly would have been fine with it. @@jessicaatkins3173 Not just that though. Older students, or students who've had to work hard to get where they are tend to be more respectful of their instructors; it's an adult to adult thing. She’d sit in the back with my phone and ear buds, after we’d get a Mr. Goodbar on the way home and share it. We’d keep it a secret from my wife but she knew the whole time....because she knows everything....and we had Mr. Goodbar breathe. That's awesome. I enrolled in college as an older parent. I was 31, with a toddler. Sometimes, I didn't have a sitter during my pottery class (filling my humanities requirement). One day, I took my daughter to class & everyone loved her. I gave her clay, cookie cutters, & a rolling pin. One student sat with her at the pottery wheel, & helped her make a bowl. The photography students next door, came over & shot photos. They gave me several beautiful 8x10s. When my daughter got bored, one student would take her to the gym (we could observe from a window in the hall) to watch volleyball, & point out the cute guys. The professor & my fellow students readily accepted a child in the classroom. I brought her with me many times. It was a wonderful experience.

He was very anxious and asked me whether it was ok to bring the baby into the classroom and the baby's mother was at work and they couldn't afford daycare. He added "my daughter is a good girl and she will not make noises in this class." I smiled with tears and said "of course as long as you don't mind my noises to her." My college actually has a "daycare" (we call them creches where I live) and me being fresh out of secondary school I was surprised that there were adult students with kids in my class. There was one girl that I swore was the same age as me, then I found out she had a whole husband and baby that she went and collected from the creche in the evenings. It was kind of encouraging to me to see all this though, that even if you're an adult or have a baby it's never too late to go back and get an education and make something of yourself, and that having a child isn't the end of the world.

During my last semester before graduating UCF (You CAN Finish), I had a class that was offered once per year, from only one professor. I worked part-time and my two daughers were 10 and 4 yrs old at the time. I asked my professor if I could bring my daugters to class (for the entire semester) on Tues. and Thur. evenings because their aftrecare ended before my last class began. Back then, there was a 90 minute gap between my first class and my evening class, which was just enough time for me to pick my girls up from aftercare (I was divorced) and return to school for my evening class. The professor said she'd have to wait and see how many students enrolled, before giving me an answer. Our classroom sat 25 and 23 students enrolled! My girls were able to attend class with me for the entire semester! I thank Jesus for that blessing!

God bless him a 100 fold. Lord bless the mom to. It take a village to raise a child. The single moms on campus should start a mom support group. This could work with the right group of women.
