Same for me. There NO EXCUSE for it to take @ an hour to get the slide stop back in and functioning even with the Kimber replacement recoil spring and guide rod P urchased a new Combat Commander last year. 500 rounds thru it. Went to disassemble it. Could not remove the

Could not remove the barrel bushing. Neither could the gunsmith. Told me to put a few hundred more rounds thru it. My Commander and Defender are really great shooters. Now that CZ owns Colt they need to fix these issues ASAP!

For $1,400 the Defender should already come with a decent recoil spring like the Kimber. You shouldn't have to change out parts. Your thoughts?

I just changed to the Kimber spring 4000465 and it really isn’t any easier to take down / reassemble. It also has a tiny pin that supposedly has to be inserted into a hole in the rod during takedown and reassembly. I didn’t see you use this pin, nor was it used in any of the other vids on this I watched. My Defender is brand new, only 32 rods through it at time of part change. I’m also familiar with 1911 takedowns, but wonder if I might be doing something wrong? And what’s the deal with that pin? TIA!!!

I do not like the pin either. I was able to insert the Kimber guide rod and recoil spring in my Defender without using the pin

Wonder why colt hasn’t replaced that part. You shouldn’t have to buy from kimber when you pay 1,000+

I think they have, because mine does not have that problem. No wobble at all.

The Colt thin plate is held on to the guide rod with a tiny 'c' clip. There was a recall on some pistols about this. The Kimber system uses a thicker plat that is threaded on. When changing out that smaller diameter inner spring every 500 rounds you must use some heat to break the locktite. When reassembling reapply a drop of blue locktite or permatex on the threads. Random Tech has a video.
