For this video, I travel to eastern Washington state to the Columbia National Wildlife Refuge. This refuge is located within the Drumheller Channels - which are a central part of the story of ice age floods that inundated eastern Washington. These floods - more than 100 in total - were part to the story of Glacier Lake Missoula and the ice age floods that ripped across the area from Montana at the end of the last ice age.
I make my way through the refuge to photograph birds - mallards and Canadian Geese - and also get treated to an overflight of Sand Hill Cranes during their migration.
If you want to find out more about the ice age floods, go to www.nickzentner.com. I would also like to thank him for the flood animation used in this video. @GeologyNick
