De-Gaulle in my opinion has always struck me as an Arrogant self serving individual, got me stumped why his countrymen liked the guy.

Read Churchill's history of World War II, you'll come to respect him at least, or perhaps, as I do, feel very warmly towards him. One could say he saved the honor of France.

@@byterbit6236 Churchill said that history would make him look good because he would be writing it: maybe he felt that De Gaulle deserved a good write-up, despite what he was really like.

The French were starved for a hero, and he fit the bill for the time period. He looked good in uniform, and basically told the Nazis to stuff it. The Allies recognized his status and used it to rally resistance. Like him or not, he helped.

The dude who bailed out at 14:44 may have hit the prop of the plane filming. Robert Johnson wrote about observing this happen during a mission, so it is possible.
