The rating is only based on the points you get, it basically only gives you good scores if you get long combos, lots of parries, ending rounds with supers, finishing the match fast, not losing any rounds and some other things that give you lots of points. It's not really an actual ranking

It's a Sony PVM and the actual 3rd strike arcade board + a supergun (device that lets you plug the JAMMA arcade board into the PVM/TV)

They are using actual cps3 arcade boards of 3rd strike and have them hooked up to superguns that allow them to use PVM, BVM, CRT tvs and they also use DB15 to USB decoders/converters that are compatible with PS3/PS4/PS5/PC/Xbox360/Xboxone sticks.

Ever since the beginning the small pockets of 3rd strike players in the US were strong but japan always had the geographical advantage where the best could constantly play the best

Went to Combo Breaker 2019 and saw ChrisG playing 3rd Strike on the arcade cabinets. Saw him rage quit and leave in the middle of the round, blaming the cabinet for not being responsive. It's one thing going online and hearing these things about players, but seeing it IRL for your own eyes...

@@jessieansell6168 meta wise it's more neutral based, footsies aren't that important like other games because of the parry system but they are there. Some chars have good normals to force a footsies game (big bad losing to chun li to footsies) . Char wise the top tier are ken, chunners, yun, makoto but as you can see in the video, a good player can use a non top tier and win.

Makoto's S2 hit Abigail right in the forehead, and because he's so tall and her so short, by the time she could land and do the second hit of the super, Abigail actually had the time to just recover and block it. This game has so many weird interactions like that.

@@jaybyhop completely agree, playing casually with friends is wonderful, and it isn't that the tournaments aren't very good either, but an essentially 3-character meta is pretty bad. This was still early days though, I don't know many games from this era that don't devolve into something similar... but it's right to point out in the context of nearly universal praise.
