Moving the cows and calves up to the handling pens to dose mums for liver fluke and sort who is and who isn't going to run with the bull this year. The occasional rustling sound you might hear is me shaking a bag of biscuits, but they'll pretty much come just with my calling. It's always a little tense when calves are involved - they have a tendency to dash off in all directions - hence my other half coming up behind them all. We all got plenty of exercise today!
Regular reminder - these cows know me. I have raised them all since birth and work with them every day. Do not approach cattle unless you have the permission of the farmer and are absolutely sure you know what you're doing. They can weigh upwards of a ton and have pointy horns. You don't want to upset them. Best to view from the other side of a stout gate. If they're friendly, and you're patient, they will probably come up and say hello.
