In 2004, my family and I did a cross-Canada road trip, and made a side-trip pilgrimage to Rouleau, where I recorded our younger son rolling a Rolo (the caramel-chocolate candy) in Rouleau. What was funny was the resemblance between Rouleau and Dog River itself. We visited on a Sunday, and there was only a security guard in front of the gas station. As we came up to peer through the station window, the security guard ambled over and said in a cautiously low voice: "You should move your car". "Why?", I asked. "You see that old lady in the lawn chair over there?", he said, "She's here every day. She's parked right behind you and she's *not* a very good driver. If you want to be safe, move your car." I walked back to the car - a rental van - and gave the old lady's car the once over. I walked back and said to the guard "I think I'll be okay. Her car is spotless, so I'm probably not in any great danger." He replied with the same stern caution in his voice, "Her son has an auto-body shop and keeps fixing her car up. Move your vehicle." I complied. But on to more serious and consequential matters... In a battle of the bands, who do you think would win?: Thunderface, The Recess Monkeys (SCTV), or Rod Torkelson's Armada, featuring Herman Menderchuk (Kids in the Hall)

Would you ever consider sometime in the near future preforming some of your earlier stand up materiel on KZitem for your legions of fans? Y'know...Since a grand majority of us are currently under quarantine due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Not a full hour long set or anything. Just a quick 5 or 10 minutes to help us get through these rough times. We could all use a good laugh these days. I realize how busy you must be with your schedule, but it would mean a great deal to so many. P.S. -To this very day, I cannot ride a roller coaster without thinking of your "Fabio taking a goose to the face" routine! I started to chuckle to myself about it once. When my wife asked what I found funny, I started to tell her about your act to the best of my recollection. By the time I got about halfway through telling her, I had about 2/3 of the line in Disneyland totally enthralled with your work. People were looking for it on KZitem! That is still one of my favorite family vacation memories.

Brent, there is a huge difference between Northern Virginia and and the rest of Virginia (Tidewater, Central, Piedmont). Northern Virginia is heavily populated and is essentially a suburb of Washington, DC. It is progressively democratic whilst the rest of the state is much more conservative. Northern VA represents a huge percentage of the tax base for Virginia and often accuses the rest of the state of disproportionately using those taxes. When I first moved to Northern Virginia many years ago, I rememberer driving out to Leesburg VA (then not a part of Northern VA, which has since grown and subsumed it) and thinking "so this is where the deep South starts."

Hey Brent, have you and Nancy listened to Vic and Sade? Its story was told in thousands of 12-minute sketches without dramatic continuity written by Paul Rhymer. The best of them stand alone like fine short stories. Sadly only about 300 survive. Bill Idleson who played Rush, the son, went on to write TV scripts for Bob Newhart and others and was Herman Melcher on the Dick VanDyke Show. Here is a good example: archive.org/details/vicandsade1/VS_40-04-04_-_Rush_Makes_a_Call_on_a_Girl.mp3 For a time there was a professor at UW Milwaukee that taught radio script writing using Vic and Sade scripts
