It's deliciously dark comedy, isn't it. The shows by Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton, Reece Shearsmith, and Jeremy Dyson (The League of Gentlemen, Inside No. 9, Psychoville, etc) aren't easy to find on physical media for someone like myself here in the USA. If I had a multi region disc player I could order them. As for streaming, I wonder if Britbox carries this program. I might just subscribe to that platform; I mean, if they have stuff like Keeping Up Apperaances, One Foot in the Grave, and this ... well, what's not to like. I love that the characters and places were all inspired by real life experiences-- from Tubbs & Edward to Pauline to Papa Lazarou. There's always going to be comedy and satire found in real people and in their idiosyncrasies and quirks. One just has to go over the top with them.

Far too much to explain and I wouldn't know where to start! I will have a go! The characters are based on a real village shop that the writers visited. The woman behind the counter seemed terrified of them. For comedic effect, they exaggerated the characters with the inference that in many rural areas there is a limited gene pool and inbreeding goes on! In the UK, rural areas in places such as East Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, East Anglia and Wales have long been the butt of jokes about inbreeding and beastiality! Hope that helps a bit?
