So sad that people have to expect a bad reaction from their parents. My friend recently came out as bisexual, and although I'm straight, I've been tryna best figure out how to be around for him if he needs support in figuring out who he is, and this was a great help in just kinda understanding the mindset I guess? Idk how to verbalise it, I just wanted to say thanks to the three of you! I was 13 when I realised I liked girls. I literally found a friend on twitter and then she asked me to be her girlfriend a year into the friendship and I fell in love. Sadly, it didn't stay that way because I broke up with her due to being surrounded by people telling me that "gay people are going to Hell". I have realised since then that I'm pansexual and that I'm not over my ex. Currently not out to any family except my sister and if my parents ever find out, I'll be disowned.

the giving a chance bit. reminded me of a small party I was at one night. my neighbor was a little tipsy, and a little downhearted when the off duty bartender who happily mixed for everyone (mixed a favorite drink with several types of alcohol for me, that usually is just a shot of rum in a tall glass and cherry coke poured into it) told him that his personality was perfect for her, but the issue was that he wasn't a woman. I raised his spirits a little when I pointed out that he had half. And she helped by cheerfully agreeing with the statement I think he was too drunk to remember the conversation the next day. so life went on

I'm only 14 and coming out to my parents having been Catholic my whole life was really scary. So hearing Courtney's sorta similar situation it was like, "Oh cool, I'm not the only one who felt kinda like that." It's just the most relieved feeling when everything turned out okay, and honestly every LGBTQ+ identifying youth should feel that when revealing themselves to someone they trust. I'm so thankful that my family and best friends could be those people for me. ❤
