Really interesting watch. Have you heard or experienced anything about grades being effected when comiqclean is used. Not sure how it differs from immacuclean.

I only use this on 1976-1995 ish comics. Have not seen any poor results in that era. It’s very dif from the other product

Thank you so much for all that you do. Have you tried Immacuclean? If so, how would you compare?

I recommend this instead.

I have used both and Comiq Clean is much better. Immacuclean leaves streaks and eats gloss. Comic Clean will damage gloss on Silver Age books, but works well on 1973 and later books without damaging gloss. Immacuclean does a better job of cleaning, but the loss of gloss and streaking are not worth it. Comic Clean is all I use now.

Love the idea of that Makeup remover/exfoliating thing. That’s another tool to add to the comic cleaning arsenal. 👍👍👍

*_Hm, I would have thought adding a sheet of paper behind the cover while ComicCleaning and buffing would have been a good choice._*

I do, but it's not necessary. This shouldn't be applied heavy enough to soak through.

Will this remove tide lines due to water stains?

I apologize if I missed it, but did you do a dry-cleaning process first, or, does ComiQclean replace that step?

I dry clean first

Safe to assume if you’re going straight to press after comiqclean there wouldn’t be any need to humidify cover? I would think there would be residual moisture left over from the cleaning.

I often have to wait 12-24h to get in press. So, I do my standard humidification.

Just to get an idea, how have you damaged books with this process and would you recommend doing this on books even if they don’t have water spots just to give the gloss a better look?

I am a minimalist and try to not over do anything - so answer to the latter is no, I would not. To the former - don’t rub and don’t leave it on the comic before wipe

Joe, I hope you don't mind if I chime in here. ComiQClean isn't for every book every time. Yes, you can use it to give a book some extra oompf. I personally use it most to help with deep cleaning,
