So let me get this straight: I would need a shit ton of blocks, two birds that went missing from the conservatory, a gibson guitar, 3 keyboards, a keypad, a drum, a trumpet, drill holes into my perfect machine to add an additional drive, a Commodore 64 and that's it? Christ almighty that's some insane surgery! what the fuck are they making? I think we just found out the origins of The Thingy (Far side)... 0_0

"Expand to 512K" is a big fat lie -- the 512K REU wasn't available until many years later, when the 128 was obsolescent. Which is a shame, because 512K runing GEOS 128 in 1985 would have been a rather good machine for the day.

@@valenrn8657 Yeah, if you have a hit with the C64 and you want to create its successor, common sense would dictate that you simply expand on the C64's capabilities and avoid creating an entirely different platform with some goofy "GO64" mode for backwards compatibility. I never got the point of the C128.

@@g04tn4d0 X86 PC evolved while retaining backward compatibility. Modern PCs with LPC headers still have ISA signaling support and LPC-to-ISA adapters that can run SoundBlaster ISA cards. But in practice, the C128 wasn't much more than a glorified C64. But it was a pretty good glorified C64 based on the sales figures... C128 sold more units than ALL Amigas combined!!

No, only Amiga 500 sales are more than C128 models. C128 is very expensive to make and too much cheap sales, 2 cpus+2gpus and most of the software was for C64, from a business point of view, it was a failure.

@@Elbas_Tardo That's not what a quick research says. According to Wikipedia, C128 sold 5.7 million units worldwide. Amigas sold 4.85 million units.

@@joojoojeejee6058 Wikipedia say only 12.5-17 millions of C64 Jacka Tramiel say more than 30 millions. In the case of the C64, certain countries in South America or Asia etc. were not counted and the Wikipedia data is only based on a person who made assumptions based on serial numbers that he had collected, but did not add any of more than half of the countries in the world. In the case of the Amiga, on wikipedia I don't know what sources have taken that data, but I have a magazine from the year 92 before the Amiga 1200 and it was estimated that there were more than 6 million A500s, only of that specific model without counting other variants. Ask yourself a question: how many people do you know who have a C128 and how many have an Amiga? ;)

@@Elbas_Tardo Well, I trust Wikipedia more than some random magazine 30 years ago. Very few people had either computer in my circles. Personally I bought a PC after C64. And exact numbers don't matter, the point was that C128 was suprisingly popular and all Amigas combined were much less popular than all the hype suggests...

@@joojoojeejee6058 "Random magacine" Men i bet you can find more Amiga users than C128 users, and yes i got one c128 was my first computer but i sold to buy one Amiga, and my friends got CPC 464, spectrum and MSX and everyone bought later one Amiga 500. :D And as you already know what Wikipedia says about figures, they are the ones that a person thinks, those of its founder and those who worked at Commodore seem more reliable to me, which are the ones that this "random magazine" is based on, they also declared less sales in the USA to pay less taxes, which is called fiscal engineering. kzitem.info/news/bejne/o6CM0Yl3k2mQYI4
