I see this as a trigger now! I never saw it as a trigger before, this idea of “I can’t do it” is such a real trigger, but i wasn’t able to make that connection before.

Oh my god. I am 48 years old and this is the first time ever anyone have described me so accurate, this is absolutely 100% spot on. It has been like this since the age of 9-10. This means I´m not a weirdo, other people have the same issues. I will tell this to my therapist when I see her sunday. You blew me away Dr. Aimie.

I have always over reacted to criticism and now I know why; came from a family who avoided true communication and conflict at all costs!!

Often I withdraw around others because I feel they can't be trusted.

Very helpful and thanks ... an eye-opener. Are there families out there that can do and actually teach life ? 🤔

One thing, you said a parent could help their child with attachment trauma. But it is the parent's failure that creates the trauma. Or do you fix the parent first? I grew up in a family of little to no conversation.. Any attempt I made to share was politely brushed off. Everyone minded their own business, except my older brother could talk to my dad, that was allowed. In spite of this I have my own family, but I don't share much or really make relationships, and have an extreme amount of stress at any potential failure to please. I guess I would call it attachment disorder, if that meant something like failure to meet the basic social needs of being known and to know others, which happens through conversation and sharing.

I don't know how to do relationships. Will you be talking about the "Avoidant" attachment style? That's me, unfortunately. I am in your Trauma Healing Class. Hoping that you will be discussing the Avoidant Attachment style and how to overcome it. Thank you for all you're doing...

How do you assist adults with dissmissive attachment to begin feeling feelings or emotions in their body after they have grown used to numbing feelings ? Art therapy recommended ?

The somatic exercises in her 21 Day Journey are a perfect way to start. Speaking from personal experience. In the first week I was already getting better in touch with my emotions. If you can't do that, look into Somatic Experiencing or exercises for calming the nervous system or the vagus nerve.

@@AndreaCrisp thanks so much for your reply ! Sounds like you had a great response to the exercises . Have you been able to maintain ? Some people believe DA’s can’t change but I believe they can . Your thoughts

@@triplethreat9168 you are welcome. I am still in the 21 Day Journey. Day 13 today. I personally have had tears come up since starting the program. Crying has always been difficult for me as I wasn't allowed to cry as a kid. I don't know that much about attachment issues, but the exercises taught are teaching my body that it's safe and my body seems to be responding accordingly.

I don’t like being a human being. It’s all too sad. Disappointing. Discouraging and I hate it all.
