Thanks Ralph for another great video. Good and very helpful information to know about. I will most definitely address the ones you have mentioned next time I have the tranny out of the vehicle.

I had a gear selector seal on the transmission leaking... Jeez what a huge mission it was to just get out .. I eventually got it out but it was a huge frustration. I couldn't get the old one out and other guys say to pull the pan and stuff .. I wasn't willing to do that . but eventually got it done

Trying to get shaft seals out without removing the shaft is indeed an art. I have had some luck with drilling a small hole into the seal and inserting a screw into that hole. Then use either pliers or a slide hammer to extract the seal. It works - sometimes. Glad you lucked out.

Yikes! I am and have been a big fan of these great old relics for about 15 years as I have two - a '95 E320 wagon which is my wife's daily driver and my '88 260E affectionately referred to as "my beater". Both are leaking like there's no tomorrow. The wagon is mostly from the head gasket whereas the beater is from the front cover on the motor and likely more than one spot from the tranny. I'll likely try digging into these issues one at a time this year. I feel for you having to do this seal work after having put it back into the car. Good luck with this endeavor and I will subscribe for possibly more 'instructional' videos :)

Yes I did. There was a leak at the shifter shaft. But the last major leak came from the brake piston right next to it. Check out minute 1.29 in this video. kzitem.info/news/bejne/0Y6Pypioh3SGlaQ

722.3 transmission always leaking oil, how to fix
@straybenzes

The most effective thing to do is to pull the transmission out and replacing all seals and O rings. Otherwise, clean off the oil and drive the car a little to see where the leak came from.

@@frankxu3409 You are not wrong. Most of the techs working in car shops today do not know how to work on these old cars. You have to choose between selling your car, taking a chance on letting yet another mechanic work on your car, replace the part with one out of a junk yard, or try attempting the repairs yourself. There is no easy answer Sorry!
