After the Bolshevik revolution of 1917, the ownership of real estate in large cities was eliminated and its owners were expelled. Given the shortage of housing, these apartments were used to house groups of workers and families who came from the countryside to the city, giving rise to the phenomenon of communal apartments. This form of coexistence continued throughout the USSR and is still present today.
In February of this year I was in Saint Petersburg and I had the opportunity to visit some communal houses, and here is what I saw.
