Annie's brother is played by Spencer Crittenden, who was a guy who Dan Harmon met during one of his Harmontown live podcasts. Dan asked if anyone knew how to DM Dungeons and Dragons and would be willing to play with them onstage. Spencer raised his hand right away and became a fixture on the podcast then began working with Dan on a few different projects (a history show and a live-play DnD show for example). He's amazing.

Also a few other notable guest stars... Vince Gilligan (creator of Breaking Bad) as Pile of Bullets actor. Gina Gershon as the wife of PoB guy - who has had a long career in acting - 'Bound' being my favorite of hers. And Paul Williams as the book buyer who has had a very long and storied career in Hollywood and as a singer/songwriter - he's in one of my favorite movies of all time, 'Smokey and the Bandit'.

Baldur's Gate actually uses the exact same game mechanics as 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons. If you learn how to play one, it's really easy to learn the other. And if you're looking for people to play with, there are a lot of websites out there now that help match you into an online game of either.
@sabin97

baldurs gate 3 made some changes to some spells, and messed up at least one ability(probably more). minor illusion compels your enemies to be distracted, which is quite overpowered. there's a warrior skill. i forget the name. the one that uses up your action and allows one of your allies to use a reaction to attack outside of their turn. it doesnt work. it tells you the other character is out of their turn.....

D&D seems intimidating, but it's easier to play than you would think. Not because there aren't a lot of rules (there are), but because of the Dungeon Master. The DM isn't just the narrator, but the referee. If you tell them what you want to do, they'll tell you if/how you can do it. The best way to learn how to play D&D is simply to play and pick it up as you go. If there is anyone in your social circle that you know plays D&D, ask them about playing. D&D players love recruiting newbies. Even if they don't have space in their regular game, they'll probably be able to find a DM willing to run a one-shot (single session adventure) for you so that you can try it out.

I always thought they could number them themselves then sell the books. I've seen ink stamps that have a number counter. So first press would go 1, then 2, etc. With the price of textbooks it'd be worth it. I'm probably overthinking this for it being a sitcom.

Have you seen Breaking Bad? Johnathan Banks (Buzz) is best know from that series. The whole chemistry book scene plays much funnier if you've seen BB. It feels like a drug selling scene, just replace the books with meth. Britta sniffs the book to check the purity 😂 Oh and I think you need to revisit the dean's out of control free stylin rap. It's one of the funniest things he's done. I would have done a spit take had I been drinking when I first saw it. 😆

I'd actually say Baldur's Gate is an easier version of D&D cause its limited in what it can depict. D&D is much more freeform than anything on a videogame, like a common issue amongst DMs is the party completely derailing a planned plotline because none of the players took what the DM thought was obvious questline bait, or ended up becoming obsessed with a character, or just organically developed their own goals

If you're D&D curious and have the time I would recommend watching Dimension 20's first season, Fantasy High. Dimension 20 is show where a group of fantastic comedians play D&D. A season ranges from like 8 episodes to a full 20 episodes and each one is generally self contained and set in different worlds, though there are a few seasons that are sequels. The first season (Fantasy High) is on KZitem in it's entirety and is a good place to start if you have no knowledge of D&D, as one of the players had never played before so they're learning how everything works as well. And the setting is hilarious as it's high fantasy meets a John Hughes style high school setting. I would recommend giving the first two episodes a shot and see if it's your cup of tea.

All you and your husband need to do is go to a local gaming store and ask if they have any D&D groups and if so, theyre looking for more players. Another option is to play online, but I personally dislike playing that way. Most people are more than happy to welcome and teach new players. Its not as difficult to play as people think.

30:18 this exact feeling, of realizing how much creative potential was really wasted, hit me full-force the first time I got to season four during my first rewatch, and unfortunately, it didn't let up until the opening scene of season five. like you, the first time I watched the series I could tell season four felt 'different', but I generally liked, and so wasn't at all prepared to be blindsided just how janky and off-putting it felt once I was watching with a more critical eye and a deeper understanding of what the characters were supposed to be. the first time watching, season four felt a little different from the other seasons. the second time watching, it felt like someone had flipped a switch, and had all the characters replaced with shoddily made doppelgangers. hopefully your experience rewatching it won't be as awful lol, but seeing as you've had a very similar initial reaction to the show as I did, I thought I'd warn you to prepare yourself.

Baldurs Gate's actually a really cool way to learn the basic rules of DnD! they are basically 1/1 to the tabletop games when it comes to rolls and spells/actions and stuff. It 's not as intimidating as you'd expect. Same with playing, especially if you are not the Abed of the group and DM'ing you really don't need to know more then what your character can do and the basic interaction stuff. heavy recommend giving it a try especially if your husband likes Bg3!!
