CORRECTIONS FOR THIS VIDEO: #1: The image I used for Monica Padrick is in fact NOT Monica Padrick. It is actually Annie Murphy. #2: Briggs Hatton does not *actually* appear in Wedding Videography, that is actually Matt Gourley playing Briggs Hatton. #3: I'm bad at pronouncing names, it is my Achilles Heel. Kinda wish I could change the video itself without having to post an entirely new one, so just pinning this comment will have to do. I will update this any more corrections if/when they pop up. I love community. I will never not love it. It’s genius. However my only criticism is WHY THE HELL DID THEY PAIR JEFF WITH ANNIE?! It was already there that Annie liked Troy, and Jeff liked Britta, why change it to something so much creepier. I think the only reason they get away with it is because of their charisma. But it’s a very dangerous trope, especially for the young impressionable people watching back home. This show made me think an age gap that big was okay. I was 17 going on 18. I ended up getting into some really dangerous situations because I thought it was okay. I wish they dived in more to why it was a creepy relationship. Unfortunately I feel like the writers saw no problems with it

Jeff is the only one who responds to Abed’s fourth wall breaks & meta jokes. He will be the 1st to tell Abed that life is not TV. In S2E1, where Jeff & Britta are pretending to be madly in love, Jeff calls Abed’s “I can’t tell life from TV” a gimmick & very S1. To which Abed replies, “I can tell life from TV but TV is more structured & has likeable leading men but irl, we have you, Jeff”. But Jeff kinda deep down goes along with Abed. Communty’s high concept episodes are not gimmicks like you said. They’re what set the show apart.

Unpopular opinion: I agree with Chevy Chase's final disillusion with his Character. While the ensemble is great and everyone has their moments, Pierce was a wonderful character that was done wrong by the writers with every season. Sure he was crazy, insecure, bigoted and a prick, but at first he was also well rounded by being smart, having a different point of view, and actually being funny without hurting others. The way they made him bitter and hateful was unnecessary when Jeff is clearly the most toxic one of the group. It is kind of the way they ruined Britta, if Gillian Jacobs wasn't so okay with her character being silly I would be more upset by how they turned someone who was supposed to be smart, caring, brave and a straightwoman to Jeff's controlling and scheming nature to a silly side character almost as pathetic as Rupert Grint's Ron in the Harry Potter movies. I think it is a waste of potential and while Chevy doing those things was not cool he was protecting the character he played and as brilliant as Dan is, he really screwed himself and the show over by doing such a disservice to his characters after season 2. It had to take him being fired and rehired for season 5 for him to get them in some semblance of the good banter but without Chevy and Donald it really had to take bringing other characters like Johnathan and Pagget which were fabulous additions but the dynamic wasn't the same.

I would love a retrospective for Always Sunny In Philadelphia! It has so much history that could be awesome to explore. Love the work!

My favorite meta joke in all of Community is when they're finishing the sixth season and Abed is talking about how the movie will *definitely* happen. He says if they don't all come back at some point that means a meteor hit the earth and killed everyone, then he looks directly at the camera and says "And that's canon." RIP

I'm still in love with Alison/Annie, ever since she let her hair down in the Debate 109 episode. Love this video btw; great work!

Still making my way through the MCU retrospective. Made it through TDKR trilogy videos and now I have this one to look forward to. Just wanted to thank you so much for all your hard work and let you know that you are a staple in my morning routine (have you playing in the background all throughout) and a staple for whenever I make long car rides. Keep up the amazing work!!!!

I absolutely love Matt Berry in S6 but Im eternally saddened it was before his role in WWDITS solely because I really wanna hear him respond to Brittas "I lived in New York City!" with a Lazlo line read lmao

Love the retrospective. Surprised you didn't mention that the Myles Morales Spiderman was created by them seeing Troy in Spiderman pajamas in the opening montage in season 2.

I’m so glad you said Frankie is one of the best new parts of Season 6; after watching the show all the way through for the first time, I was so confused why I saw some people online saying Frankie ruined the show. Since then, I’ve come to learn that the sentiment was only really shared by basement dwellers and people who hate women.

I can give your video no higher compliment than it made me laugh so hard I had to stop it halfway through and start rewatching Community again. Well done!!

The ONLY 2 things I dislike about the show is Britta’s devolution as a character (I get it, it’s to show the hypocrisy of activists & PC-police) & Jeff resets to his distant, irreverent, sarcastic douche bag-self at the beginning of EVERY EPISODE. Sure, in the final episode, we see his growth, but till then in at the beginning of every episode, it’s like he unlearns every lesson from the previous episode. It could because of the format of the Harmon story circle ⭕️

If you notice, the paper in the opening creates gets progressively more crumpled through the seasons.

In the hands of less capable writers & show runner, Abed would have remained just a “weirdo”.

I really enjoyed your video, in fact, when Troy goes off on Zach Braff, I did not get the joke that Donald Glover was parroting what his detractors were saying about him leaving Community...Genius! Thank you
