Getting that campfire feel on the boat when camping on the boat is tricky. It needs to be compact, safe, quick to put out, and cool down fast. The areas I explore do not allow wood fires because it's such an environmentally sensitive area, and wood takes up precious space if I have to take it with me.
This is my upgraded attempt at how to make a campfire on the boat. Trying to get that "log look" with the alloy tubes. It's also smokeless and puts out quite a bit of heat. I haven't tried camp cooking on it yet.
I've used a pot plant base, some gravel from the garden, some scrap alloy tube painted with black fireplace paint, and a coffee can with a toilet roll as a wick and filled with methylated spirits. It burns for about 8 hours.
I'm now thinking of ideas of how I might introduce the fire crackle sound...
I'd love your ideas on how I could make this feel even more like a campfire. Please let me know what you think and any suggestions or questions in the comments below.
Thanks for watching.
