You're always so calm when you see your awesome shells go up lol, I'm always super excited to see something work when I build it.

I'm often nervous and excited when one of my devices is about to be displayed, Hen, especially if it's in a competition in front of a large crowd. I guess I just calm it down for a video. We're all putting our best efforts forward, succeed or fail. Enjoy the ride.

@@nedgorski can I cut up magnesium ribbon (bought off of amazon) into small pieces for a spark effect in stuff like fountains without having to worry about it self igniting? I would be using a pair of scissors.
@nedgorski

I don't know, Jayce. I tend to avoid using Mg, since it is relatively more sensitive than other metals. And, sparks in stars/comets/gerbs are typically made by smallish particles of a metal like Titanium or MgAl, not coarse pieces. Good luck, and stay safe.@@JayceMcCormick

@nedgorski thanks. I figured since magnesium is much more reactive ( or atleast seems more reactive) than aluminum than it should burn in big mesh sizes mixed in with other pyrotechnic comps. But it need aa high ignition temp of over 800 F°. Thanks for the reply.

August's 48 hour ball milled Magnalium is one of the greatest game changers in the pyro hobby. No builder should be working without it in their color formulas. It's a "must have" chem. Nice headings Ned ~ See you soon @ Oz!

Is that safe to ballmill magnalium😮. Pyrophoric after 48 hours? What mesh size will it have at that time? What mesh size do you start with?

More grayish magnalium mean more magnesium in alloy that mean much better .."thicker" color in stars. More silver magnalium=more Aluminium in alloy...that gives poor colors..except yellow and purple

They looked quite similar to me, but I'm not a pro. I did a quick and dirty stop watch on the birn and the 2nd was maybe 1/4 s shorter?

Second are faster and pinkish, less oxidizer may do the trick, first are cool but the embers from the parlon ruin them a bit.

In the NX COLOR formula Can I replace saran with parlon and will it have any effect on the color?
@nedgorski
9 ай бұрын
Although I prefer the Saran, other chlorine donors such as parlon could be substituted for it, and it should work pretty well. Good luck.

Yes. It won't be the binder, just the chlorine donor in that case.@@edwinlee750

It's hard to pick it out on camera, but the second did look to have a faster burn rate.
